A single 360 degree camera can quite often offer advantages over PTZ cameras or a larger number of fixed cameras. It is therefore not surprising that they are increasingly being specified for video surveillance projects where there is a need to continuously monitor a wide area such as in a retail store.

The latest version of Wavestore's video management software, V5, incorporates de-warping software which enables the recording and display of the fisheye images captured by 360 degree cameras, and provides a facility for control room operators to de-warp images of the whole or specific areas of the monitored scene. 360 degree and panoramic cameras manufactured by AMGPanogenics, Geovision, MOBOTIX, Oncam Global and VIVOTEK are already supported by V5 with Lightspace 360 and others in the process of working with us to integrate their protocols into the Wavestore VMS.
