Verint Systems Inc., a leading provider of analytic software-based solutions for workforce-enterprise optimisation and security, recently announced that Metro Transit has selected its NextivaTM Transit solution to enhance the security of passengers and operators on-board its buses in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

Metro Transit manages an integrated network of buses and trains and is the 18th largest transit system in the US, with approximately 240,000 rides provided each weekday.  As the principal transit provider in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Metro Transit recently launched a multi-million bus fleet security initiative designed to further enhance passenger safety and prevent crime.  As a critical component of this strategy, Nextiva Transit will help modernise the transit authority's security infrastructure, replacing existing analogue recorders with a scalable, rugged and flexible digital video solution.

"Metro Transit was one of the first agencies to deploy analogue on-board video recording solutions to help increase passenger safety,"
said Brian Lamb, General Manager of Metro Transit.  "Verint's Nextiva Transit solution will help us transition to digital on-board video to create a more robust security environment."

Nextiva Transit will provide video across 240 buses and allow Metro Transit to wirelessly transfer marked video back to garage operations personnel for investigation and risk management purposes.  Nextiva Transit will enable more effective management of Metro Transit's entire on-board video network through automatic system health monitoring, camera tampering detection and proactive problem notification.

"Transit authorities today are faced with a growing need to protect their staff and riders and mitigate risk across their vast transit networks,"
said Dan Bodner, President and CEO of Verint Systems Inc.  "Verint's Nextiva Transit solution, built on our expertise from thousands of successful deployments, helps leading providers like Metro Transit increase security and enhance the effectiveness of their entire operations."

Nextiva Transit is part of the Nextiva portfolio of networked video solutions.  Nextiva enables organisations of all sizes, from small and mid-sized enterprises to major government and commercial organisations, to enhance the security of their facilities and infrastructure and the performance of their business operations by networking video across multiple locations and applying advanced content analytics to extract actionable intelligence from live and stored video.  By alerting security personnel to potential security threats, Nextiva helps organisations prevent security breaches, improve response time and enhance operational efficiency.
