Avigilon, a leader in high-definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance solutions, recently announced that Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU), a member-owned financial cooperative with more than $680 million in assets and 16 branches across Southwestern Ontario, has deployed the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system to protect itself from theft and fraud. YNCU chose the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system to secure cash assets kept on site for its improved image quality and advanced functionality. The Canadian financial cooperative plans to upgrade all existing analogue-based systems as branches are renovated and new locations are added.
“Fully accountable to our member-owners, we must do everything possible to secure their cash assets,” said Al Siemens, manager of facilities and special projects at YNCU. “The Avigilon high-definition surveillance system helps us capture a much higher resolution image than the grainy picture we were accustomed to, so we can better protect against theft and fraud.”
On the recommendation of Chubb Edwards Canada, a provider of surveillance system design, installation, and service, YNCU installed Avigilon HD 1 MP cameras at three branches, with plans in place to add a fourth branch. The Avigilon HD 1 MP cameras monitor activity at all main entrances, teller wickets, vault doors, and ATMs. Branch managers and the corporate risk manager leverage the Avigilon Control Center network video management software (NVMS) with High-Definition Stream Management™ (HDSM) technology to manage the system across the network. YNCU installed an Avigilon Network Video Recorder (NVR) to store up to 90 days of continuous video footage.
By deploying the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system, YNCU can capture high quality video and effectively monitor key cash-handling areas to meet recommended standards for insurance purposes. Leveraging HDSM technology and the motion detection capabilities of Avigilon Control Center, YNCU can obtain a complete incident overview while reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. The credit union can connect the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system into its existing network for significant infrastructure savings and ease-of-installation.
