| Mayoral visit to the offices and manufacturing facilities of GJD |
Well established in the UK, the company continues to refine and develop new, innovative and highly reliable products and has been exporting an increasing volume of its production over the last four years. These increased levels of output, together with the recent acquisition of a major, new, long-term contract for an international client have necessitated the building of a complete new production line together with increased staffing levels.
To celebrate this continuing successful expansion the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Rochdale, Councillor's Keith Swift and Susanne Etchells visited the offices and manufacturing facilities of GJD to formally open the new production line, tour the factory and meet with staff on November 6th. Also present were senior representatives from The Local Development Agency, Business Link and Rochdale Recruitment, Training and Employment Link.
The opening ceremony featured the illuminating of a unique and innovative electronic back-lit plaque at the entrance to the new production line which the Lord Mayor activated.
In his address to the staff at GJD during the opening ceremony, The Lord Mayor expressed his pleasure at being present to celebrate a national production success story and said that GJD's expansion in the important and growing field of security further represented excellent news for the region, demonstrating wealth and job creation in the most difficult of recessionary times.
Commenting on the day, GJD's MD Mark Tibbenham stated, "We were delighted to be honoured by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress who helped us celebrate this new and exciting venture which will witness our company more than doubling its output and sales of products which are now viewed as "industry standards" in an ever increasing number of countries world-wide."
