WatchGuard® Technologies, known for its unified cybersecurity solutions tailored for managed service providers (MSPs), recently appointed Vincent Hwang as Chief Product Officer.
Hwang will directly report to CEO Joe Smolarski. This strategic move comes as the company intensifies its focus on platform development and AI innovation to enhance operational efficiency for MSPs, minimise tool overlap, and bolster robust security outcomes.
Advancing cybersecurity product strategy
Bringing extensive knowledge in cloud, endpoint, network, and SecOps domains, Hwang will spearhead WatchGuard’s product development initiatives. His objective is to simplify the deployment, management, and monetisation of enterprise-grade security solutions for midmarket-focused partners, while enhancing AI-driven technologies to boost MSP operational scalability.

Hwang's two-decade tenure in the cybersecurity sector has seen him in pivotal roles at influential companies, where he specialised in the growth and development of cybersecurity products.
Most recently, he was with Fortinet, leading their Cloud Security division to sustained double-digit growth. Prior to Fortinet, Hwang contributed significantly to modern threat protection initiatives at Sourcefire and Cisco, where he was instrumental in advancing early endpoint detection and response (EDR) functionalities and refining Cisco's advanced malware protection and Zero Trust strategies.

At Bitdefender, Hwang served as Chief Product Officer, guiding their global product management and engineering efforts.
