Organisations with restricted IT capabilities find this approach highly attractive. The growing need for remote work and mobile access has created a demand for continuous security system monitoring which cloud platforms deliver effectively. The integration of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence becomes simpler through cloud-based systems. The tools improve threat detection capabilities and automate responses which results in enhanced situational awareness. Cloud-based systems provide organisations with faster incident response capabilities and better resilience through their real-time alert systems and off-site backup and disaster recovery features.

They also want systems that can be accessed securely from anywhere without the burden of patching and maintaining on-prem systems. That said, video is heavy, and not every business can or should push everything off-site. Bandwidth, privacy rules, and uptime requirements can make a pure cloud model difficult and costly for many customers. That’s why the trend we are really seeing is hybrid. Keep the real-time analytics and recording at the edge, where speed matters, and use the cloud for what it’s best at: remote access, long-term storage, and managing multiple sites. Ultimately, it’s about giving organisations choice, without forcing them into a one-size-fits-all approach.
