Sony announced extensive range of security cameras at IFSEC 2008

Product Profile

At IFSEC 2008, Sony unveiled no less than nine new cameras to the security market.  From IP to analogue, indoor to outdoor, minidome to box cameras, and now megapixel models, Sony is able to offer its customers a choice of products to suit any application.

"Building on the success of Sony's existing security portfolio, the additional models have been introduced to afford customers and specialist Sony dealers even greater choice to suit their individual needs," said Simon Nash, Senior European Marketing Manager, NVM/CCTV.  "These latest models have been designed to be accessible and scalable, and created specifically for security applications."

Sony launched the SNC-DM110 and its robust sister model, the SNC-DM160, to introduce Megapixel resolution to Sony's existing range of intelligent IP mini dome cameras.  In addition to this, the SNC-CM120 is Sony's first C-Mount security box camera with Megapixel resolution.  All three provide high-quality imaging and sensitivity whilst utilising Sony's intelligent Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture (DEPA) technology.  These models are based on the company's latest ExwavePro CCD that has been designed specifically for IP Cameras and combines Progressive Scan technology and Complementary Colour filter to dramatic affect.  The SNC-DM160 model features a built-in heater and comes with a vandal-resistant polycarbonate dome and aluminium die-cast housing to offer IP66 ingress protection.

Another addition to Sony's Vandal Resistant mini dome range was the IP66 analogue SSC-CD79 camera.  This camera is based on a 1/3 type CCD with Sony's unique DynaView technology, offering a wide dynamic range for high sensitivity.

Building on the success of Sony's first intelligent network speed dome, the SNC-RX550, launched in 2007, Sony further boosted the line-up with the introduction of two Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) IP cameras.  The entry-level model SNC-RX530 is based on a 1/4 type Exwave HAD® CCD and provides an 18x optical zoom.  The new high-end model, Sony's new SNC-RX570, features a 1/4 type Exwave HAD® CCD with DynaView wide dynamic range technology and a 36x zoom lens.  All of the models in this range combine speed dome capability with extremely high image quality, DEPA intelligence, dual encoding and three compression formats, and privacy zone masking.
