ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, a global provider in door opening solutions, has manufactured a high-security doorset for upmarket residential developments. Following a surge in demand by architects, specifiers and contractors for high-end residential doors that combine robust protection with a premium finish, ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has developed a bespoke doorset solution that combines detailed aesthetics with secure protection. High-level security and access control Adapted from the organisation’s high security Safeguard timber range, the new doorset is available with the highly sought after Pickersgill-Kaye multi-point locking system, discretely morticed into the door. The doors can be designed with a range of features, including raised and fielded panelling, specialist wood veneers and other bespoke finishes, providing a door that offers high levels of security and access control, while subtly blending in with the interior features of a high-end residential building. All ironmongery is fitted at ASSA ABLOY Security Door’s manufacturing facility, meaning the doorset can also be delivered ready to be installed. Custom built and site specific door safety Nigel Cronin, Regional Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “This tailored solution is a response from architects, specifiers and contractors, requiring doorsets for clients that must deliver strong protection with a premium, high-end look. Applications for the doors include front entrances, safe refuges and strong rooms.” “With the capability to build custom-made doorsets, based on individual, site-specific requirements, this new offering satisfies a need for safety and security but not at the expense of aesthetics.”
ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, a provider of door opening solutions, has successfully re-tested its products to Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) 1175: Issue 7, greatly increasing the scope of certification for its security door range. Pickersgill-Kaye locking systems The doors have been independently tested by the Building Research Establishment to the latest issue of the security standard, with the doors fitted with the Pickersgill-Kaye range of single and multi-point locking systems. ASSA ABLOY now has one of the most comprehensive, fully certified security doors product ranges available in the UK. This now encompasses security ratings to SR2, SR3 and SR4 of the LPS 1175 standard, as well as the option of timber doors tested to the same level. LPS 1175 is the most widely recognised security door standard, and the one most commonly specified by architects in the UK. Key reasons Nigel Cronin, Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, explains: “The purpose of this re-testing was for four key reasons. Firstly, our products have now been tested with Pickersgill-Kaye locking systems, ensuring both SR3 and SR4 doors are standardised with this sought after, high security locking system. Secondly, the doors now offer increased flexibility as they have been tested with single point locks, which help reduce cost, simplify the doorset and lower on-going maintenance. Thirdly, the doors have been tested as double doors, with the option of double panic escape, fully in accordance with the requirements of EN 1125 standards for panic escape hardware.” “Finally, the doors that have been accredited to security rating 4 have now been tested for both inward and outward opening configurations, which is increasingly requested as a requirement by our customers.” For architects, specifiers and contractors working on major projects, selecting solutions that have met LPS 1175: Issue 7 standards provides assured security, safety, and peace of mind.
ASSA ABLOY, Security Doors, a division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, manufactures all its doors in Galvanneal steel, ideal for powder coating to increase durability and corrosion resistance. The hot dipped galvanised steel, originally developed for the automotive industry, offers a coating that is uniformly spread, to provide a consistent appearance over an entire door and its fine matte finish acts as a primer, shielding against rust. A tightly adherent paint film on galvanneal steel lasts longer then it would on non-galvanised steel because the zinc helps prevent rusting and blistering, which reduces maintenance and replacement expenditure and improves whole life costing. Nigel Cronin, Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “All our steel doors are manufactured from high quality steel that conforms to both British and European standards. Galvanneal steel offers a far superior coating in comparison to zinc-iron coatings, such as zintec. “The smooth surface of galvanneal steel is ideal for the polyester powder coating we offer in house, which not only improves the aesthetic appearance of paintwork, but also improves scratch and impact resistance, reducing maintenance and replacement expenditure for facilities managers who are under increasing pressure to consider whole life costing.”
