Skills for Security is backing the launch of the Next Gen Network, an initiative unveiled during the Safety & Security Event Series. This platform is dedicated to providing a stronger presence for early-career professionals across the security, safety, workplace, and integration industries.
The Next Gen Network aims to elevate the voices of emerging talent within the industry.
Scheduled to coincide with the 2026 exhibition series from 28 to 30 April, the initiative will facilitate young professionals’ involvement in industry dialogues, the expansion of their professional networks, and active participation in shaping the discussions that impact their career trajectory.
Building a capable workforce
Nathan Stovell, Senior Marketing Manager at Nineteen Group, highlighted the pressing need to bolster the workforce in light of continuing skills shortages.
He remarked, "As the industry continues to face well-documented skills shortages, the need to attract, retain and develop new entrants has become increasingly pressing. We launched the Next Gen Network to address this and create an environment to help young professionals reach their potential with dedicated industry support. Ambassadors such as Skills for Security are critical to this success and will play an important role in building a workforce that is resilient, capable and prepared for the future."

The network enables industry pioneers to adapt to the next generation’s evolving prioritiesThe Next Gen Network is also poised to enhance interactions between the industry, educational institutions, and professional organisations, establishing a consistent point of engagement for up-and-coming talent. By fostering dialogue between young professionals, employers, and associations, the initiative seeks to improve understanding of career pathways and opportunities within the sector.
Additionally, the network offers industry leaders a conduit to respond and adapt to the evolving priorities of the next generation. Insights from ambassador involvement will inform future event programming and content themes at the Safety & Security Event Series, ensuring alignment with the dynamic needs of the workforce.
