The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced the appointment of Amanda Garzon as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
In her new role, Garzon will manage strategic implementation and the daily activities of the association, focusing on synchronising internal functions and delivering SIA's programs and initiatives. Garzon brings a wealth of experience from both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors to this position.
Background in organisational growth
Before joining SIA, Garzon held the COO position at the Hydrocephalus Association, where she played a pivotal role in fostering organisational growth and expanding program initiatives across a national network comprising patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and industry partners.
Among her notable achievements is the creation of HydroAssist, a mobile application aimed at assisting patients and caregivers in managing hydrocephalus treatment.
Acknowledgement and recognition
Garzon's leadership contributions have been acknowledged by the establishment of the Amanda Garzon Visionary Leadership Award, presented each year by the Hydrocephalus Association.
In 2025, she was recognised as one of the Top 20 Advocacy Professionals by the Advocacy Association. Further emphasising her qualifications, she is affiliated with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Alumni Association and served as a Woodrow Wilson School Graduate Fellow at Princeton University.

The addition of Garzon is part of broader efforts to bolster the SIA team. Other recent hires include Briana Jeter as the senior manager of marketing and events, Courtney Kay as the manager of industry relations, and Nicholas Matzerath, coordinator of member services. The SIA staff remains committed to supporting its members and advancing the organisation's initiatives.
