Evolv Technology has officially partnered with Belmont University, aiming to bolster security with its AI-driven screening tools.
The university, located in Nashville, Tennessee, integrated Evolv Express® into its Curb Event Center Arena in late 2023 to enhance weapons detection capabilities. This arena, with a capacity of 5,000 guests, now leverages the system to ensure attendee safety during events such as basketball and volleyball games, concerts, and more.
Innovative security solutions
Evolv Express utilises a blend of sensor technology and artificial intelligence to distinguish potential threats from everyday metal items. The Curb Event Center Arena’s adoption of this technology marks a significant alignment with other prominent venues in Nashville that have embraced similar measures.
The Tennessee Titans, for example, have implemented Evolv's solutions over the past three seasons. Similarly, the Bridgestone Arena, known for its professional hockey events, adopted Evolv technology more than a year ago, while the Opry Entertainment Group also benefitted from its deployment at the esteemed Grande Ole Opry.
Enhancing the guest experience
Belmont stands as the first university in both the state and Nashville to implement Evolv Express
Andrea Runner, Belmont University's senior director of business operations and special projects, emphasised the importance of the venue management community in sharing successful security practices.
She remarked, “There’s a buzz about Evolv across the city, and as Nashvillians, we’ve experienced Evolv first-hand at a number of venues locally. We needed our weapons detection partner to be on par with the university in terms of being innovative while also providing a seamless customer experience, and Express fits the bill.”
Pioneering in higher education
Belmont stands as the first university in both the state and Nashville to implement Evolv Express, setting a precedent for other academic institutions. Across Tennessee, many school districts already utilise Evolv's solutions.
Nationally, over 800 schools employ these systems to screen approximately 600,000 students daily. Jay Muelhoefer, chief commercial officer for Evolv Technology, noted, “Nashville is an example of a city – similar to a number of other major metros like Boston, Denver and Houston – where Evolv is now an expectation because it’s used so widely. Belmont is an exemplary educational institution, and now, it’s leading the way for other centers of higher education in using the best available technology to protect students, faculty, staff and other guests.”
