Sony Professional is showcasing its new NSR-1000 RANGE at IFSEC 2009 in hall 4 at stand J10.

Sony's hybrid network surveillance servers are now available for purchase in Europe. Based on the latest generation of hybrid technology, a flexible platform allows the servers to record and integrate a wide range of camera formats from modern IP and megapixel cameras to more traditional analogue cameras. Not only does this provide an impressive improvement in performance, the servers are the only products on the market that enable the combined use of analogue and IP-based cameras. Businesses can continue to use their existing analogue cameras and integrate with IP technology, aiding the seamless transition from analogue to IP.

The smallest server, the NSR-1050H, supports up to 20 cameras and can process video data from up to 16 analogue cameras using an integrated Analogue Encoder Board (NSBK-A16). The mid-range NSR-1100 model can accept data from up to 32 cameras and store up to 1000 GB; while the large NSR-1200 servers are available for 64 IP video data streams of up to 2000 GB. Significantly, an open architecture means that the servers can process data on cameras from other manufacturers.

Critically, the use of 2 HDMI interfaces, in addition to the traditional 2 RGB interfaces, allow the servers to record high resolution images, including JPEG and MPEG4 data formats to provide high-resolution videos in real-time. This aids the assessment of data for criminal activity but

also improves clarity and control as two of the four interfaces can be used simultaneously in any combination.

The video images can then be displayed onsite using two monitors or controlled from a remote location using a PC installed with the supplied Sony RSM Controller software that significantly improves basic operations, such as live image monitoring, recording, playback and image search can be performed. "When combined with an ability to export AVI files and control multiple recorders, the NSR-1000 series gives consumers a level of flexibility that has not been available to date," explained Yu Kitamura, EMEA Product Manager, Video Security, Sony Professional.

Unrivalled flexibility, performance and ease of use led Detektor International magazine to award its 2008 prize for Innovative Achievement in CCTV Products. "With the NSR-1000 series Sony has developed a plug and play system for video surveillance, that supports both analogue and IP cameras," said Lennart Alexandrie, Publisher of Detektor International.
