identiFINDER R200 enables to detect and identify radiological threat and then take immediate action FLIR Systems recently announced the launch of the FLIR identiFINDER® R200, the latest addition to its industry-leading identiFINDER R-Series handheld radiation detection and identification tools. Intended for use by state and local law enforcement agencies and first responders, the wearable identiFINDER R200 delivers American National Standards Institute (ANSI) N42.48 compliant identification at a price that enables more first responders to perform immediate front-line detection and response during a radiological event. ANSI N42.32 PRD approved At less than one pound, the lightweight FLIR identiFINDER R200 is fully compliant with the ANSI N42.32 Personal Radiation Detector (PRD) standard and boasts a compact and rugged design to wear on a belt without burdening the officer. It also provides continuous radiation monitoring during routine traffic stops, high visibility events, and in mass transit or critical infrastructure entry control points, without requiring any user interaction. The identiFINDER R200 combines FLIR's new Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) technology with a Cesium Iodide (CsI) detector to provide high-resolution identification so frontline officers can quickly determine whether a gamma radiation source is a true threat or benign source from medical patients, normal occurring radiation, or industrial use. The FLIR identiFINDER R200 uses this next-generation solid state detector technology that enables first responders to detect and identify a radiological threat and then take immediate action. FLIR identiFINDER R-series The identiFINDER R-series of products share a field-proven, common user interface and simple data presentation. With tens of thousands of identiFINDER units deployed globally, the familiar interface design of the identiFINDER R200 allows for quick integration with existing operational protocols while also reducing officer training time and costs. Using the latest advancements in Bluetooth® and web server technologies, the OneTouch Reachback™ feature provides officers large-scale situational awareness and enables instant notifications to help improve communications with command and control. “The resolution offered by identiFINDER R200 allows first responders to react quickly to identified threats,” said Dennis Barket, Jr., Vice President and General Manager of FLIR Detection. “The low price point of this tool will allow more agencies to deploy it, empowering a new level of protection to safeguard the communities they represent.” FLIR will showcase the identiFINDER R200 for the first time at the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Expo (EMEX) 17-18th November in Las Vegas, NV, booth #517.
FLIR System recently announced the release of the FLIR Griffin 844, the latest addition to its leading-edge Griffin 800-series desktop chemical trace detector product line used by security officials to screen personal belongings, parcels, cargo, skin, vehicles, and other surfaces for explosives and narcotics threats. The Griffin 844 delivers a significantly lower false alarm rate than other offerings, offers expandability to address future threats without impacting sensitivity, and ensures fast and reliable clear-down to maximise availability. Significantly lower false alarm rate Built around FLIR’s exclusive mass spectrometry (MS) technology, the Griffin 844 provides much higher resolution compared to existing ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) technology, resulting in improved chemical selectivity. As a result, the Griffin 844 yields significantly lower false alarm rates, providing confidence to security officers that only true threats are detected. Expandable threat library The Griffin 844 performs dual-mode detection for a range of current threats, including military, commercial, and home-made explosives, as well as commonly abused narcotics and synthetic drugs. FLIR’s expandable library allows new threats to be added to the library without impacting sensitivity or false alarm rates. FLIR offers free updates to its Griffin library as they become available, providing customers with a future-proof solution that addresses emerging threats. Maximum operational availability FLIR’s menu-based GSS Touch™ application eliminates data interpretation and streamlines checkpoint operations. The Griffin 844’s innovative system design ensures fast and reliable clear-down that prevents lengthy bake-outs and minimises maintenance to maximise operational availability. It uses a non-radioactive ionisation source to eliminate associated costs and logistics. “We are proud to offer the Griffin 844, the only desktop trace detector that uses gold-standard, mass spectrometry detection technology in checkpoint screening applications to drive higher accuracy,” said Dennis Barket, Jr., Vice President and General Manager of FLIR Detection. “FLIR is leading the field with lower false alarms and quick clear-down to ensure public safety and operational efficiency.” The FLIR Griffin 844 will be showcased at the AUSA Exposition on October 12-14 in Washington, DC and is now available for purchase through FLIR or established distribution networks.
