Commvault has announced enhancements to its Cloud Rewind solution, notably extending coverage for Microsoft Azure resources in configuration protection and recovery efforts.
This update aids organisations in expediting the restoration of cloud applications and the necessary support infrastructure, addressing challenges commonly faced due to the complex, lengthy, and error-prone nature of manual environment reconstruction. The 2026 State of Enterprise Cyber Resilience report by Absolute Security highlights that 57% of enterprises experience average recovery times exceeding 4.5 days following a cyberattack.
Advancements in cloud resource discovery
Cloud Rewind provides continuous monitoring and discovery of cloud resources, facilitating the mapping of application dependencies and orchestrating a streamlined recovery and rebuild process. This includes all necessary infrastructure, configurations, and dependencies, all managed from a single platform. The Azure protection expansion increases coverage to encompass 62% of enterprise-relevant Azure resource types. Organisations can also conduct application recovery simulations, including in isolated, air-gapped environments, to validate recovery readiness before incidents occur.

The enhancements to Cloud Rewind also include deeper integration with Commvault's backup and recovery systems. New Protection Groups offer a unified, air-gapped recovery setup that consolidates application data and cloud configuration into a single recovery process, eliminating the need for multiple disparate tools. Enhanced policy features now allow for automatic enrolment of discovered resources based on tags, region, or type across various cloud settings using a singular workflow, shifting from individual to scalable cloud resource protection.

Cloud Rewind, currently available, is offered as an additional workload within Commvault Cloud for comprehensive cloud application protection and recovery. The expanded coverage for Azure resources is expected to be available soon, with pricing determined by the volume of protected cloud resources.
