The Gallagher PIV solution offers real-time and strong authentication of PIV, PIV-I, CAC and Transport Workers Identification Card (TWIC) credentials
The Gallagher PIV solution delivers a single management platform

GovSec Conference and Exhibition, Washington D.C: Gallagher the global manufacturer of integrated physical access control and perimeter protection systems, announces that its Personal Identity Verification (PIV) solution has won the platinum award in the access control category of the prestigious Govies awards. The Govies honor outstanding security products for federal, state, tribal and local governments.

This success follows the recent inclusion of Gallagher's FIPS 201-2 compliant Personal Identity Verification (PIV) solution on the US General Services Administration Approved Product List (GSA APL).

Federal Information Processing Standard Publication (FIPS) 201 is a United States federal government standard that specifies Personal Identity Verification (PIV) requirements for Federal employees and contractors. Gallagher's PIV solution listed on the GSA APL complies with the current FIPS201-1 standard and is consistent with the FIPS 201-2 draft.  Many Federal facilities are required to upgrade their PIV credential authentication and the Gallagher PIV solution provides this.

The Gallagher PIV solution delivers a single management platform and simplified implementation of a PIV physical access control system (PACS). It is currently the only enterprise - level PACS on the GSA APL which supports PIV card and related Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate checking. The Gallagher PIV solution offers real-time and strong authentication of PIV, PIV-I, Common Access Card (CAC) and Transport Workers Identification Card (TWIC) credentials.

The system maintains the traditional components of verification and does not require any "bolt-on" to achieve compliance, enabling simple installation. A key element is the Gallagher Command Centre software, which resides on the user's IT and PKI network, integrating electronic access control, intruder alarms management, perimeter security, validation and compliance management in a single scalable platform.

Supporting the Command Centre is the Gallagher Controller 6000(HS) PIV which includes all of the authentication capabilities required by the FIPS 201 standard. The Gallagher PIV solution uses the Controller 6000HS enabling a card authentication key (CAK) system. The current Controller 6000HS meets the Federal enterprise-wide need for strong, contactless authentication at electronic access control points.

Gallagher Vice President of Sales - Access Control, Scott Bryan said, 'Our PIV Solution delivers an excellent architecture of network connectivity that provides a cost-effective, upgradable and future proof way for Federal government agencies to comply with the FIPS201 standard'.
