Siemens Building Technologies focus on the company's Corporate Responsibilty programme at IFSEC 2008Siemens access control and building automation combines to bring significant savings on energy bills.

A focus for Siemens Building Technologies at IFSEC 2008 was the company's Corporate Social Responsibility programme and particularly ways in which Siemens are addressing the reduction of energy usage

An example on the stand was a recent project in Rotterdam in which Siemens Building Technologies combined access control with the management of heating and lighting using Siemens SiPass and Synco programmes.  The system operates across a series of gymnasia in the Dutch city, with SiPass granting access to users for agreed time slots.  SiPass informs the Synco systems to automatically switch the HVAC and lighting on and off accordingly, resulting in energy savings of approximately 20%.

SiPass is increasingly being integrated with other security products and systems.  On the stand, the newest version of the SiPass Entro system was demonstrated, showing the capacity for DVR integration without the need for an additional PC.
