Motorised zoom lenses from Rainbow have been installed at Bogotá Airport, Colombia.  The 15-300mm units were selected for the quality of their telephoto performance, compact size and ability to operate amid high levels of dust and fumes.

The lenses are allowing air traffic control and security staff to follow vehicle and passenger movement on aprons and runways as well as monitoring for intrusion through the perimeter fence.  In several sectors the Rainbow units are being used at distances of more than a kilometre.

Bogotá Airport occupies 1,705 acres.  It is Colombia's principal gateway and is one of the world's largest landing fields.  The airport is situated 15 km northwest of the city centre and is currently seeing extensive modernisation to its main terminal, El Dorado.

Like all Rainbow zoom lenses these motorized 15-300mm units are available with presets.  In addition to airfields they have an outstanding track record in applications including military bases, mines, prisons and sports stadiums.
