Students reflect on what security means to them.

Panasonic Security Systems, a division of Panasonic System Solutions Company (PSSA), and Panasonic Authorized Dealer Allen Security & Consulting of Wendell, NC, recently sponsored an essay contest at three Raleigh, NC area schools.  Students from East Wake Academy, Zebulon GT Magnet Middle School, and Wakelon Elementary School were asked to write an essay about what security meant to them.

Panasonic provided 20 lucky students with MP3 players as a prize for the best-written essays.  The essays were reviewed and winners selected by Allen Security & Consulting.

"Security has taken on a new meaning and is more pervasive throughout all walks of life as a result of world events here and abroad.  In such a media-rich culture, today's children are exposed to events instantly, and often without explanation and analysis.  It's important that children know there are still safe places so they can grow and develop in a nurturing environment," said Frank DeFina, President, Panasonic System Solutions Company.  "The essays written by these children provide valuable insight as to their perception of security while letting them know there are people and companies at work dedicated to help preserve their safety."

Mr. Barry Allen, President of Allen Security & Consulting, served as the final essay contest judge.  "This contest has gained popularity and generated quite a local buzz.  It's also become a fantastic way for us at Allen Security to become more involved with the children in our community," said Mr. Allen.  In addition to Panasonic Security Systems and Allen Security & Consulting, the contest was also sponsored by a local minor league baseball team, the Carolina Mudcats and BB&T bank.
