Mayflex, the cabling infrastructure, networking and IP physical security solutions distributor, has joined forces with Acorns Children’s Hospice in a fundraising venture
Paul Cave, Infrastructure Market Development Manager for Mayflex, fundraising mission will take place over 12 month period

Mayflex, the cabling infrastructure, networking and IP physical security solutions distributor, has joined forces with Acorns Children's Hospice in a fundraising venture which will see Paul Cave, Market Development Manager for Mayflex, travel the entire coastline of the UK and Northern Ireland by motorbike.

Acorns Children's Hospice is a registered charity that was established in 1983, offering a network of care for life limited children and their families across the West Midlands region. Acorns has three hospices, located in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester.  Since the charity was established over, 1100 families have benefited from the specialist nursing care and support on offer.

Paul Cave, Infrastructure Market Development Manager of Mayflex comments: "It has been one of my lifelong ambitions to complete a motorbike ride around the UK's coastline.  Once I was aware that Mayflex supported Acorns Children's Hospice and the valuable service they provide to life limited children and their families, it gave me the push I needed to go out and make this happen."

Tracey Calcutt, Marketing Manager of Mayflex comments, "Acorns Children's Hospice has been our chosen charity for over 2 years, we make every effort to participate in fundraising activities on a regular basis to help such a worthwhile charity continue its wonderful work.  We will be backing Paul all the way with his epic journey and wish him well."

It won't be an easy task for Paul to complete as It is estimated that the coast of mainland Britain, excluding all islands, is over 5000 miles with 60% of that coastline being located in Scotland and the off shore islands.

Paul will begin the first stage of his journey on the 1st January 2009 from Acorns for the Three Counties, its hospice in Worcester.  Paul's fundraising mission will take place over a 12 month period and he has given himself a target of £4500.00.  This amount of money is what it costs to keep one of the three Acorns hospices up and running for just one day.

You can follow Paul's progress by logging on to his weekly blog which can be found here.

Paul will also be visiting university's and colleges of further education along his route, if you would like him to visit your establishment to coincide with your own fundraising event, please contact Lisa O'Connell, Deputy Marketing Manager at Mayflex on 0121 326 2259.
