The new BX2’s mirroring technology and easily removable drive caddies mean that customers can build archives of unlimited size and can remove up to two months of recorded data instantly – without having to power down or interrupt viewing or recording. With a total capacity of 1.2TB, arranged as two banks of 600GB mirrored (RAID1) storage, the BX2 is the ideal solution for customers who want to archive very large amounts of footage and for those who may need to transfer data to law enforcement agencies immediately. The four integrated RAID1 disks store two identical copies of all recorded data.  A pair of the disks can be removed directly from the machine at any time whilst recording continues unaffected.  This provides a failsafe backup is always in place should any disk fail.By regularly swapping out the RAID disk units, users can create continuous archives of unlimited capacity, without ever needing to pause recording or miss an event.  Once a unit is removed, a new one can be dropped in directly to maintain system performance. The easily-removable disk caddies also mean that there is no laborious copying to CD-R or DVD-R whenever video needs to be taken off the machine, minimising the potential for data loss and human error.  By providing a carbon copy of all recorded data, including its digital signature, there is no possibility of the information being lost or tampered with, critical for evidential  purposes.Data can be played back quickly and easily on any standard PC using an optional USB-connected caddie port and playback software, removing the need to invest in non-standard playback stations.

At the recent ISC West 2010 Dedicated Micros and AD Network Video exhibited their range of surveillance solutions.  A key development for Dedicated Micros was undoubtedly  the company's revolutionary Integrated Camera Recording concept, as realized in the CamVu ICR, which will be on display at this year's ISC West. The groundbreaking CamVu ICR brings together a megapixel or standard IP camera with a powerful enterprise class video server - all in one compact package - to deliver robust, failsafe, local storage,   local viewing and playback, remote access, metadata integration, event logging/management and even analytics at the edge of a customer's network. In practice this should mean that - unlike centralised NVR based solutions - recording can actually be maintained regardless of the status of the IP network. Supplied with megapixel, VGA or analogue resolution, the CamVu ICR offers one day of full rate recording thanks to onboard solid state storage provided by a microSD card or similar storage media. In addition, the CamVu ICR has the potential to access further tiered storage, including a locally connected SATA drive via ATA over Ethernet (AoE). Using the AoE protocol allows the highly-secure, point-to-point, transfer of video files to a separate storage device, for backup and long-term archiving. A key point is that this can continue to operate, even in the event of complete failure of the TCP/IP architecture and network infrastructure.
