ASSA ABLOY Aperio® University of Surrey
Aperio® from ASSA ABLOY is the educated choice at The University of Surrey. Ranked among the UK's top 10 universities, the University of Surrey houses 18,000 students and 3,000 staff across the Manor Park campus.
ASSA ABLOY Access Control worked with WOT Security to upgrade mechanical security to access control and completed the installation with minimal disruption to the university’s first-class learning environment. The upgrade added over 40 Aperio® battery-powered locks allowing the university to secure and monitor access at Manor Park
Andrew Bowes, Director of WOT Security, said, “The benefit of working with Aperio® is its flexibility to adapt to any situation and seamlessly integrate into the access control system, to enable a wire-free deployment, without any need to modify the doors.”
The online connection to Aperio® doors allows facilities managers to conduct real-time audits and update permissions instantly.
Damian Marsh, Managing Director Access Control UK at ASSA ABLOY, commented, “Aperio® can be easily specified on a scalable basis to work with budgets, and still result in a high quality security solution.”
Aperio® has proven so successful at Manor Park that the University of Surrey has commissioned installations in new-build student accommodation. 260 new accommodation units were specified, again with WOT Security as installation partner.
Alan Donnachie, Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities, said, “The Installation of Aperio® has proved hugely popular in the reception buildings and we are extending their use to student accommodation and looking at ways to install the solution across the university.”
