ASSA ABLOY Aperio® offline electronic cylinders protect HafenCity University Hamburg
HafenCity University Hamburg recently opened a brand new building on the southern bank of the Grasbrook in one of Hamburg’s most important urban development locations.
Bringing together staff and students from 5 different locations, the new building provides the latest facilities including a library, cafeteria / canteen area, lecture rooms, laboratories, seminar rooms and more. With the building’s complexity, a flexible and modern access control system was needed for the staff and students. In order to increase transparency and minimise management costs, HCU chose an innovative electronic access control system from Siemens.
Integrated into the system are around 500 Aperio® offline electronic cylinders from ASSA ABLOY. In combination with online readers and doors, additional doors can be equipped with Aperio® offline cylinders. The validity period can be adjusted, giving the facility management greater control and the ability to respond to organisational changes in real-time. Furthermore, only one security system requires monitoring.
With the new system, users only require one locking medium. Mechanical keys were abandoned in favour of security and convenience. The Aperio® cylinders also have the added benefit of possible extension at a later date. Their flexibility makes it easy to adapt to the requirements of the building.
