At GSX 2025 –Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre, New Orleans, September 29 to October 1, booth #3619 - Vismo will demonstrate its new “Checkpoints”, which uses QR codes at key points in a building or venue to create timestamped logs of presence. Not requiring a GPS location, Checkpoints’ QR code readings are automatically recorded in Vismo’s secure portal immediately the codes are scanned by phone. Vismo Protect App’s panic button “Checkpoints enables employers to know exactly where their staff have been - and when,” says Vismo Director of Global Sales, Colin Dale. “That’s critical for ensuring safety and maintaining operational oversight - including where security companies’ clients require verification for ensuring accountability and attendance by security personnel as legally agreed." “Checkpoints also raises the bar for safety of personnel, who can use the Vismo Locate & Protect App’s panic button on their phone if in danger. That will alert admin teams, who will contact emergency services if necessary.” Webinar: Prior to GSX 2025, Vismo will run a 30-minute free webinar, on Teams, about Checkpoints on September 24 with Colin. Supports new laws Checkpoints will support the Terrorism Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law, when it comes into effect Checkpoints supports Intro. 0991 - the Safe Hotels Act - a new law of New York City for stronger standards for safety and staffing, including when cleaning on their own in hotel rooms. Similarly, the tool can also be used for supporting lone healthcare workers, a sector shocked by the murder of nurse Joyce Grayson during a scheduled check at a Connecticut halfway house in 2023. In the UK, Checkpoints will support the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law, when it comes into effect. The act is designed to improve security and preparedness for potential terrorist attacks at public premises and events, following the attack. It’s named after Martyn Hett, who died in the 2017 Manchester Arena terrorism attack. mSafety smart watch Also on booth #3619, Vismo will demonstrate Sony’s mSafety smart watch that can be used for addressing the needs of workers in specific roles and industries. Vismo is integrating mSafety with its own backoffice operations, secure portal included, to ensure that mSafety’s location tracking, panic button and “man down” detection are supported by Vismo.
Vismo has announced “Vismo Checkpoints”, a proof of presence tool that takes employee wellbeing a step further by using QR codes to let organisations know precisely where staff are in a building or event space. Designed for high location accuracy and ease of use, Checkpoints is used with the Vismo Locate & Protect App on smartphones, from where it integrates with Vismo’s secure portal and the employer organisation’s security protocols. QR codes with a phone The app does the rest, giving users a message that the code has been scanned correctly All users have to do is scan strategically placed QR codes with their phone. The app does the rest, giving users a message that the code has been scanned correctly, and uploading the data to the portal. The QR codes are placed by the employer’s admin team. Each scan sends the precise location of the user, via the portal, to the team. Remote or unmanned locations “Checkpoints enables employers to understand not only the geographic location but also the position of staff in a building at the time of the scan,” says Vismo Global Sales Director Colin Dale. “That could be very useful for field operatives who need to log visits to remote or unmanned locations, as well as increasing safety for hotel staff.” Compliance In the UK, Checkpoints will support those having to adhere to the upcoming Martyn’s law Checkpoints helps with duty of care compliance, and is especially useful for employers whose workforce is widely distributed - because it can be scaled up by any number – and for safeguarding lone workers in healthcare and hotels. In the UK, Checkpoints will support those having to adhere to the upcoming Martyn’s law. The law, also known as the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 is designed to strengthen the security of public premises and events, specifically improving security and preparedness for potential terrorist attacks at those locations. Stronger standards for safety The law is named after Martyn Hett, who died in the 2017 Manchester Arena terrorism attack. It requires those responsible for events and public premises to take action to reduce the risk of attacks. The law is named after Martyn Hett, who died in the 2017 Manchester Arena terrorism attack In the USA, Checkpoints supports Intro. 0991, also known as the Safe Hotels Act, a law of New York City that came into effect in November 2025. It sets new, stronger standards for safety, staffing, and cleaning in hotels. Similarly, Checkpoints can also be used for supporting lone healthcare workers, a sector prone to assault and worse - and shocked by the murder of visiting nurse Joyce Grayson during a scheduled check at a Connecticut halfway house in 2023. Time-stamped proof of presence “Checkpoints is also useful for security staff, especially those working alone, who check buildings or other spaces at night,” says Dale. “Security companies have to prove to their clients that their staff have been in agreed areas at agreed times. Checkpoints provides time-stamped proof of presence and is an excellent verification method for ensuring accountability and attendance as legally agreed.” Application sectors Application sectors physical security including facilities management companies; retail; travel and hospitality Application sectors physical security including facilities management companies; retail; travel and hospitality including hotels chains and boutique hotels, commercial cleaning operators; health care provision in nursing homes and community support agencies, where Checkpoints offers cost effective time-stamped compliance and duty of care; event management – for festival sites, stadiums and exhibition centres; utilities including telecom infrastructures, water companies - and renewable energy operators, where solar and wind power “farms” need maintenance and security; museums - and education: schools, colleges and universities. “Checkpoints will appeal to employer organisations who prioritise speed of setup, cost effectiveness and all the factors that drive optimum wellbeing of staff,” says Dale. Panic button “Vismo’s panic button on the app can be used very precisely with Checkpoints,” Dale adds, “enabling security personnel and other support staff to reach users more quickly if they feel, or are, in danger.”
Vismo has optimised its mass notification offering to strengthen customers’ employee wellbeing anywhere in the world during an emergency or emerging threat, by including it on the Vismo Monitor App. For the first time, employers can now see their employees' real-time locations on the app instead of a desktop computer, and immediately send mass notifications to staff affected by, or under potential threat from, a crisis, via the app. “Having all the functionality of our mass notification on the app saves crucial time and gives security teams greater flexibility by not having to be in a static, fixed place of work in front of a computer screen,” says Vismo Global Sales Director Colin Dale. Any mobile device The app works with any mobile device, and the Vismo platform supporting satellite phones and trackers, to give a faster response to any risk to wellbeing and to business continuity. “We achieved this by integrating the app and with our secure portal so that the app mirrors the full functionality of the portal,” says Dale. “That saves time for employers’ security operations. No longer do they have to switch platforms to run mass notifications or indeed any other function of the app. They can do everything on a smartphone.” Robust network connectivity “One unique aspect of our tier one service is our ability to use more than 600 direct roaming agreements globally in a permanent roaming solution where needed,” Dale adds. “They give employer organisations very powerful roaming connectivity, with fallbacks and optional eSIMs, to ensure the most robust network connectivity possible for all two-way mass notification actions.” Multi-channel messaging – and more Vismo’s mass notification makes use of multi-channel messaging between security teams and app users Vismo’s mass notification makes use of multi-channel messaging between security teams and app users. It is real-time communication with an entire workforce, selected groups of staff or one individual, regardless of their location. Additionally, it can be integrated with - and customised via - employer organisations’ own infrastructure including HR systems and security protocols. Intelligence feeds Vismo utilises intelligence feeds 24/7 to see threats as they are reported by specialist intelligence gathering operations, and other sources, including emergency services, individuals and news and other organisations. Dale comments, “Mass notification is a fundamental part of safeguarding staff in any situation anywhere, whether in at-risk areas and or wherever the unexpected can suddenly happen.” “Immediately they learn of a threat, employer organisations’ security staff, or outsourced security team, can take immediate steps to help. Step number one is to use mass notification to give an urgent warning about what is happening or about to happen, and then give more details, with advice on how to be safe as events unfold.” Emergency services Dale adds, “Step two includes optional phone conversations between those under duress or at risk, and security staff, to gain further information including the proximity of the app users to what is unfolding and more detail about it.” “Step three involves liaison with emergency services and private security companies, and, ultimately, evacuation, if required.”
