Airbus’ MST data fusion system is creating a nationwide comprehensive security situation picture in real time
The MST system will enable the Finnish Armed Forces to coordinate all sensors and command & control systems

The Multi-Sensor Tracking System (MST) for the Finnish Armed Forces has successfully passed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on schedule and thus reached an important milestone.

This data fusion system is creating a nationwide comprehensive security situation picture in real time: It will enable the Finnish Armed Forces to coordinate all sensors and command and control systems. This ensures quick force deployment and decision making at all levels, improving interoperability and protection decisively.

The Finnish Air Force Materiel Command has awarded Airbus Defence and Space in 2010 a contract valued at € 43 million to implement the second phase of a distributed data-fusion system under the designation Multi-Sensor Tracking System (MST) until 2016. The current FAT is an important milestone in this project. The first phase had been awarded in 2004 and was concluded successfully end of 2009 after extensive field trials.

The MST is one of the most sophisticated data fusion systems in Europe in terms of numbers and kinds of integrated sensors. The system concept takes advantage from the company's skills in sensor technologies and its participation in several sensor-fusion programmes.
