Quintron Systems, Inc., the recognised leader in advanced interoperable voice systems and physical access control/intrusion detection systems, recently announced the RDS-1 network appliance technology, making the deployment of small access control systems faster, less expensive, and more reliable. “This ‘traditional server replacement’ delivers everything needed for an eight door system, upgradable to 32 doors, in a single pre-configured device,” said Richard Finnegan, V.P. and General Manager, Security Systems Division at Quintron.  “Application software, as well as the database and administrative utilities are all ready to use without any loading or configuration, saving a great deal of time and frustration.”

Once delivered to the site, the RDS-1’s dual-NIC design provides both DHCP and static addressing right out of the box. The RDS-1 also supports client connectivity from any browser-based device, leveraging the clients existing infrastructure. Thick client connections are also supported, bringing advanced features like badge printing and graphic maps, and concurrent client connections insure there is no delay in getting things accomplished.

The AccessNsite software driving the system was written from the ground up as a Java application providing unlimited system scalability, flexibility, and reliability. Due to its object-oriented design, alarms and events aren’t just static information, meaning on the spot changes to assigned access rights are quick and simple. Also, the granular control of login permissions allows the access rights of each user to be predefined.  Simple to complex reports can be created against the entire database providing everything from facility maps to manage alarms graphically, to a drill down from a campus view, to a building view, to the actual room on the floor plan showing where the alarm is occurring.

AccessNsite is designed to answer a wide array of needs from the small business to the large enterprise. With database partitioning for managing multi-tenant buildings, a web client to manage sites remotely, and the Enterprise Communicator to transfer badge records between multiple sites within an enterprise, AccessNsite is the total solution and now with the RDS-1, complete access control can be just moments away.
