artec technologies AG, manufacturer of high definition video surveillance and broadcast logger/IPTV systems has delivered its XentauriX® based E-Learning solution "Webcast Manager" to the London South Bank University. The "Webcast Manager" is deployed in many training centres, colleges and university facilities word wide since 2002.
The project at the London South bank University was realised by our partner Impact /UK. The "Webact Manager" monitors and records student's practical course assignments and lecture tuitions. The recorded content can be accessed, viewed and retrieved by the lecturer or students via network. Beside this project, Impact has successfully established artec's "Webcast Manager" solution at the University College Dublin, Metropolitan University and the University of Kingston both London
The open E-Learning solution "Webcast Manager" is specially designed to capture, transmits, record and replay audio-visual contents via networks. The signals from microphones and video cameras will be encoded in a streaming media format and transferred to the XentauriX® Masterunit server in the network. The streams can be watched live or on demand by multiple users. An integrated chat system allows viewers to actively participate by asking questions and the presenter/lecturer can answer these questions directly.
The "Webcast Manager" allocates metadata to all streams and recordings to make it easy to conduct searches by various criteria. Even after years of storage, recordings can be searched in seconds and viewed again. In addition the users have the possibility to export data or to burn it on a DVD.
As an option speech recognition software can be added to index the audio contents and a search function allows split second search of keywords.
