Chiron’s lead in IP alarms sector confirmed with coveted VdS approval to EN standards
CSC is the only company to have achieved VdS certification in the IP alarms field

Extending its technical lead further in the IP alarms market Chiron Security Communications (CSC) has become the only company to achieve independent, Europe-wide VdS verification and accreditation with its best selling IRIS Touch range of IP diallers.

Confirmation of the coveted VdS approvals - which is the benchmark standard most widely recognised across Europe - represents a major step forward for system users and installers looking to take advantage of IP alarm technology. The IRIS systems' new accreditation covers EN 50131, 50136 and, more importantly, EN 54-21 for fire systems. They are certified to the highest level of ATS 6 for both IP and GPRS routings.

"Independent VdS certification is regarded as the gold standard of testing throughout Europe. It gives IRIS and IRIS Touch insurance approval in more countries than any other system and confirms them as the leading IP systems," comments Ian Tredinnick, MD of CSC.

"Over the last 12 months IRIS IP alarm systems have gained steadily in popularity because they are significantly less expensive and more flexible than traditional fixed line solutions. Now, in addition to their other advantages, this independent testing confirms that they are every bit as robust and reliable as the older and more costly alternatives."

With the development of IRIS Touch CSC is the only company to have achieved VdS certification in the IP alarms field. Customers are already buying the systems as a direct result of their new approved status, confirms CSC, with clients signing up in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

The IRIS systems, with their flexibility to cover all applications, from the largest monitoring centres down to the smallest monitoring sites, as well as their acceptance by insurers, have rapidly become the IP alarms market leaders.

CSC now has over 20,000 users of the Iris System across Europe and is supported by nearly 100 monitoring centres.

"Independent VdS certification is regarded as the gold standard of testing throughout Europe. It gives IRIS and IRIS Touch insurance approval in more countries than any other system and confirms them as the leading IP systems."

The new IRIS Touch series is the most cost-effective of its type. It offers a superior feature set, is designed for ease of installation and support and, in most cases, can be installed via the touch screen with no additional equipment required.

The IRIS systems offer secure primary and back-up communications routes between monitored sites and alarm receiving centres, while providing the ability to make tangible operating cost savings and significantly adding value to a company's existing IT network.

Their advantages also include faster alerting, cheaper line monitoring, a range of value-added services such as visual verification of alarm alerts and building management system monitoring, plus improved network resilience. End users benefit from an improved service that links future-proof technology with the opportunity of genuine and sizeable reductions in their monitoring costs.
