The German team won a perfect start to the tournament at the European Championship in the Wörthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt.  After a gripping match against the Polish team the final score stood at 2:0 for Ballack & Co.  The fact that the feared confrontation between German and Polish fans did not take place is also due to the CCTV technology supplied by Videor:  The Viennese company Communication & Concepts Salzgeber GmbH equipped the European Championship stadium with an IP backbone and 32 eneo Fastrax Dome Cameras to view all details in the stadium.  The cameras are controllable and viewable from different PCs, furthermore the camera images were switched to two large-sized plasma screens in the security control centre.

32 Fastrax Series III High Speed Domes

The successful Fastrax III Dome Cameras from Videor have been optimised further with enhanced adjustment options for the speed and drive for the pan/tilt system, and they now deliver ultimate variability.  Three different speed ranges are controllable nearly continuously in the pan and tilt ranges. In slow mode the pan and tilt speeds are 19°-90° per second respectively.  In normal mode the speed for the panning range can be set to 40°-360° and that for the tilt range to 40°-360° per second.  Turbo mode delivers speeds of even 100°-380° (pan) and 100°-360° (tilt) per second.

The speeds of tours, auto-scan and auto-pan can now also be set very variably.  A total of 13 different steps are available so that the ideal setting can be selected for every application and monitored area.  In addition to the normal and vector auto-scan operations a random sequence can now be selected.  Furthermore, 16 instead or eight areas can now be selected.

Successful bench test

The Domes move into positions at speeds up to 380°/sec, up to 240 fixed positions can be stored.  On tours they reach their position by the shortest path thanks to vector operation.  With a horizontal resolution of 480 TVL they also offer features such as day/night operation as well as eight programmable position patterns.  Additionally, up to eight privacy zones can be set up.  The numerous features are rounded off with the FASTRAX_CONFIG configuration software which allows user-friendly configuration of all settings over the three function groups of menu control functions, serial interface properties and PTZ control.

The EDCH-144 Plug & Play Version was rated as outstanding in January by the English trade journal Security Installer: "The EDCH-144 can cope with just about anything, from near dark, to strongly backlit scenes. Installation is straightforward and configuration doesn't pose any problems."

This also emphasises that nothing was left to chance when it came to security during the European Championship.  The Klagenfurt stadium, where the German national team matches were staged, was regarded as being a potential trouble spot for confrontations as early as the run-up to the championship.  Particularly since the tense relationship between German and Polish fans had been fuelled by the Polish media.
