Panasonic’s brand new encoder makes its entrance at ISC West 2010
Panasonic's new encoder transitions video signals from analogue cameras for IP network interoperability

Panasonic System Networks Company of America announced the introduction of a new 4-channel H.264 video encoder to integrate video signals from analogue cameras for IP networked system applications.

The new WJ-GXE500 H.264 encoder features Panasonic's i-Pro Smart HD high-performance to deliver HD quality images employing the company's UniPhier LSI processor, face detection, bandwidth and energy efficiency, as well as simple installation, set-up and operation.

"Our new WJ-GXE500 H.264 encoder is a powerful hybrid solution to integrate high-quality analogue cameras onto an IP networked platform," said Bill Taylor, President, Panasonic System Networks Company of America. "The encoder employs the latest H.264 compression technology along with advanced functionality for IP-based systems environments. It is a great example of Panasonic's continued commitment to put the needs of users and systems integrators first by providing reliable, economical, and flexible means of transitioning their analogue cameras to a network platform."

The WJ-GXE500 H.264 encoder provides full-frame-rate video, multiple H.264 streams per channel, and Power over Ethernet (PoE, IEEE802.3af). The 4-channel encoder offers selectable resolution of D1 (720x480 pixels), VGA (640x480 pixels) and QVGA (320x240 pixels). Flexible installation includes the option to rack-mount three encoder units in a 1U rack. The encoder also features 3-D IP conversion and cable compensation, and an SD/SDHC memory card slot. The WJ-GXE500 H.264 encoder on display at ISC West will be available in May 2010.
