When looking for a modern access control system to protect this new research and teaching facility, the Faculty of Medicine chose Dominus Millennium, an Abbas system which is fully integrated with ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio® wireless lock technology. The new facility needs the highest standards of security to protect valuable biological material stored inside, and to ensure the safety of its users, scheduled to be 95 staff plus a shifting roster of students. The Biomedical Center’s new doors are fitted with Aperio® E100 and E100 Premium escutcheons, as well as EL160 electric strikes. Each door is connected to the Abbas access control system wirelessly, via 1-to-8 Hubs, which allow up to 8 separate devices to communicate wirelessly with the system. Staff and students gain access to permitted areas via smart cards equipped with MIFARE RFID technology. “Our new institute was searching for an access control system solution which would underpin our philosophy, focused on the future and modern technologies,” says Roman Paveza, Head of the Centre of Information Technologies. “Aperio® from ASSA ABLOY provided a modern solution and a high level of security for a reasonable price”
Povodí Vltavy Praha is a state enterprise that manages and maintains significant watercourses and state-owned waterworks in the Czech Republic. After replacing old buildings at its Prague site with three new administrative buildings, Povodí Vltavy sought a 21st-century security solution. “Mechanical keys are no use for security needs as stringent as ours. With Aperio® we get the highest level of wireless security for an affordable price — leaving as much of our budget as possible for our important environmental work,” says Vit Snevajs at Povodí Vltavy Praha. The installation includes multiple Aperio® E100 wireless escutcheons, in two security grades. Each is linked to the access control system via Aperio® 1-to-8 wireless communications hubs, which prove very cost efficient for sites with multiple doors within 15 to 25 metres of each other. David Nigrín, Sales Manager System Integrators at ASSA ABLOY, says: “Aperio® is so easy to install. And because it is wireless, it is ideally suited to new-build premises. There is no need for ugly cabling that destroys building design aesthetics.” About Aperio®: Available on the global market place, ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio® Technology enables a wide range of access control providers to cost-effectively integrate non-wired doors with mechanical locks into access control systems.
i2 Office offers fully serviced and furnished offices of the highest quality with the latest technology to suit all sizes of business in prime city centre locations across the UK. What was the challenge? Prior to Aperio, each sub-let i2 office was being hardwired into an existing access control system, which was proving costly and time consuming. How did Aperio meet the customer requests? Every office across the UK is now anticipated to change to ASSA ABLOY Aperio wireless locking solution. OCS Security Solutions, secured each office with Aperio wireless locks, which seamlessly links to the existing access control system without the need to cable around the doors. A selection of over 200 wireless E100 online escutcheons and wireless C100 online cylinder have been fitted to date. “The features of Aperio make it a simple and intelligent way of upgrading the controllability and security level of any premises. By utilising the existing access control system in place and not altering the doors in anyway, the installation costs are also minimised so more offices can be upgraded in shorter timescales.” Larry Lowther, Operations Manager at OCS Security Solutions. “Aperio appealed to us because of its innovative design and its ability to work with the security solution in place. We have found it really easy to use, as access can be granted or denied instantly without the need for updating cards. This is especially great when there is a tenant change over as it saves us valuable time and resource. Overall Aperio has enabled an aesthetically pleasing, safe and secure environment for everyone, which is great news.” Philip Grace, CEO of i2 Office.
