Panel sessions included discussions of emerging technologies and governance; identity, cybersecurity and privacy; the “greening” of the security industry
The SIA’s summit featured several leaders in government and politics as keynote speakers

The Security Industry Association has wrapped up another successful Government Summit and Public Policy Dinner.

This year’s Summit featured several leaders in government and politics as keynote speakers, including:

  • Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy
  • Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee
  • Rep. Patrick Meehan, R-Penn., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Security Technologies
  • Mark Borkowski, assistant commissioner for the Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition with Customs and Border Protection
  • Legendary Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward

Panel sessions, meanwhile, included discussions of emerging technologies and governance; identity, cybersecurity and privacy; government purchasing; critical infrastructure protection; the “greening” of the security industry; market drivers; and school safety.

SIA Board of Directors Chairman Jay Hauhn of Tyco Integrated Security said after the Summit closed that, “There just isn’t another event like this in the security industry.”

“Great speakers, informative panel sessions, Bob Woodward telling stories about everything from Watergate to the Obama administration – if only every conference could make valuable business content this compelling and enjoyable,” Hauhn said.

SIA CEO Don Erickson said he heard similar comments from attendees.

“The event exceeded expectations,” Erickson said. “Our members felt it was the strongest Government Summit ever, and this view was validated by the robust attendance on both days of the conference and at the Public Policy Dinner. People didn’t want to miss any of the timely and relevant content or the superior networking opportunities, and based on the many rave reviews that I’ve heard, they were glad they didn’t.”

Both Hauhn and Erickson also expressed their thanks to the sponsors of the Government Summit: United Technologies, HID Global, Tyco Integrated Security, Siemens, Axis Communications, Bosch Security, Building Intelligence, BRS Labs, Condortech Services, DORMA Americas, Gallagher, GSA Schedules, Inc., G4S Technology, Honeywell, IDV Solutions, Safran Morpho, Lockheed Martin, Louroe Electronics, Panasonic, Totus Solutions, Tyco Security Products and TKH Security Solutions.
