Suprema, a leading provider of biometrics and ID solution, launches X-Station, an RFID-based IP access control terminal with 3.5 inch touchscreen LCD and a built-in camera for face detection feature.

X-Station offers RFID & keypad reader/controller functions with array of cutting-edge technologies. The 3.5 inch heavy-duty touchscreen LCD with smart phone-style graphic user interface provides extreme usability and convenience. On the hardware side, the device offers loads of innovative features including a built-in camera for face detection, powerful 667 MHz processor for Windows CE based device operation, TCP/IP interface and time & attendance hot keys.  

The face detection technology in X-Station provides increased level of security and effective workforce management solution. With its built-in camera, X-Station detects and captures human face images after card/PIN authorisation. This can avoid unauthorised access attempts and prevent possible payroll fraud like buddy-punching. The device can store up to 5,000 face image logs in its internal flash memory and it can also send image logs to the server with its TCP/IP interface.  

In addition, X-Station is fully compatible with the BioStar, Suprema's IP based distributed access control management system. The device offers intelligent controller functions with its network interfaces and powerful 667 MHz CPU, and the IP-based system concept brings significant cost saving in installation and maintenance by leveraging existing network. The device offers comprehensive communication interfaces including TCP/IP, 2-channel RS485, Wiegand interfaces, and relays. Available in 13.56 MHz Mifare or 125KHz EM card version, it provides greater flexibility for users in designing their own access control systems.
