JVC VN-C20U IP security cameras are being installed in the initial phase of installation in a state-of-the-art security system for Scania Great Britain.  The system is designed and integrated by SM Technology and is an on gong project On completion, the system will operate  VN-C20U cameras across Scania service centres throughout the UK.

Each VN-C20U colour network camera is powered using Power over Ethernet (PoE) for 24/7 monitoring.  "This is the first large installation of these cameras in the UK and we're delighted to be involved with the supply of these fully-featured IP-network cameras.  PoE provides quick and easy installation saving time and adds extra flexibility connect to a network," explains Yash Patel, Executive Director, CCTV Europe at JVC Professional Europe Ltd.

Each JVC camera will be situated to monitor both internal and external areas at each site, providing security for both vehicles and personnel.  They are integrated in to a system that operates independently giving remote access and varying permissions for managers and select personnel.  This means that camera images can be viewed from remote PCs.

"The system is an invaluable business tool," explains Nathan Dervin at SM Technology.  "It required careful planning for our client and we were able to produce a future-proof surveillance system that was scalable, able to work across multiple sites and integrated with access control systems.

"We wanted to be able to make sure that vehicles were not being removed from sites, that health and safety procedures were being observed by staff and that we could use the system as a management tool.  We are delighted with results," comments Gary Power, Scania's South West Manager.
