Hanwha Techwin America introduces new H.264 network speed dome camera range
Hanwha Techwin America introduces new H.264 network speed dome camera range

Samsung has introduced a new series of network speed dome cameras which are collectively designed to provide a solution for airports, ports, car parks, industrial estates and retail parks, as well as a wide range of other environments where high performance PTZ functionality is required. All four new ONVIF compliant models, which incorporate Samsung’s highly acclaimed SV-5 DSP chipset,  are able to capture 4CIF resolution images at 25 frames per second and feature Progressive Scan to optimise the high quality video capture of moving objects, making it possible to read car number plates, for example, without a motion blur effect.  The SNP-3371 is equipped with a powerful 37x optical zoom as is its weatherproof counterpart the SNP-3371TH, which has an object Auto-Tracking feature and is supplied in an integrated housing for easy installation. The SNP-3302 has a 30x zoom capability and the housed version, the SNP-3302H, is IP66 rated. “These new speed dome cameras offer a number of significant additional features compared to previous models including Power over Ethernet (PoE+ and hPoE) which can power a device without the need for a local power supply and thereby reduce installation time and costs,” said Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. “They also utilise H.264 compression to minimise bandwidth requirements with the option of using MPEG-4 or MJPEG compression. This means that customers have the flexibility to choose to simultaneously transmit up to ten different streams of images to multiple locations at various frame rates, including real time, at different resolutions.” All four models incorporate true Day/Night cameras with an infra-cut filter work and, with the benefit  of a high end 600 TVL CCD, work extremely well in low light applications, The cameras are equipped with  Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology which compensates for backlight problems 160 times more effectively than standard BLC. They also feature an Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) capability that includes an Appear/Disappear function which can detect the movement of objects, as well as optical tripwire and enter/exit direction detection. As well as those features Samsung users have come to expect, such as third generation Samsung Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII), polygonal privacy masking, multi-language on-screen display (OSD) and Bi-directional audio support. All of the models can be controlled by video management software developed by leading third party developers such as Exacq, Griffid, Ipronet, Milestone and Mirasys. An extensive full range of accessories and brackets provide the option of wall, pole, parapet, pendant, corner and in-ceiling mounts. Available from all Samsung distributors, the new speed domes are offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.

Samsung has added two new HD megapixel models with built-in IR LEDs to its network vandal-resistant dome camera range. The SNV-5080R and SNV-7080R are able to deliver high definition images during both daylight hours and in pitch-black darkness, making them suitable for a wide range of applications requiring effective 24-hour surveillance, including car parks, industrial estates, petrol forecourts, schools, hospitals, retail parks, airports and ports. The SNV-5080R incorporates a 1.3 megapixel camera with a motorised varifocal lens and, with its 15 built-in IR LEDs, is able to capture up to  1280 x 1024 (4:3 format) and HD 720p (16:9 format) images of objects up to 15 metres even in zero light. The SNV-5080R features Samsung Techwin's WiseNet1 DSP chipset to deliver a host of advanced functions such as license-free Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA), which includes optical tripwire and enter/exit direction detection, as well as an Appear/Disappear function to detect the movement of objects. IVA also has a scene change tampering function which creates an alert if, for example, paint is sprayed on a camera lens or there is unauthorised movement of a camera away from its usual field of view. The H.264, MPEG4, MJPEG and JPEG compression methods incorporated into the SNV-5080R provides users with the ability to simultaneously transmit images to multiple locations at various frame rates and at different resolutions allowing different users, if authorised, to simultaneously monitor live images at one location, whilst recording video evidence at another. POE (Power over Ethernet) functionality reduces installation costs by providing both power and video/audio transmissions via a single Ethernet cable. The SNV-7080R incorporates an ONFIV compliant 3 megapixel Wide Dynamic Range (2MP mode) camera capable of  displaying multiple resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 (4:3 format) and Full HD 1080p (16:9 format). Incorporating Samsung's bandwidth friendly WiseNet2 DSP chipset, it offers the option of dual-streaming of video using H.264 and MJPEG compression and can therefore be simultaneously used for real-time monitoring, mobile monitoring, high quality or high-efficiency recording, SD memory recording and/or E-mail notification purposes. The SNV-7080R also features Samsung's Smart Codec compression technology, which allows specific areas of interest within a scene to be captured at a higher resolution than the rest. This means that areas such as doorways, human faces, or windows are transmitted or recorded at full resolution, whilst other areas within the scene are reduced to save file sizes and put the user firmly in control of bandwidth management. At night, or in any environment where there may be inadequate lighting, the camera's 15 built-in IR LEDs are automatically activated and provide effective lighting up to a distance of 25 metres. The SNV- 5080R and SNV-7080R, which are both vandal resistant and rated to IP66, are offered with an extensive range of accessories and brackets to provide a choice of wall, pole, parapet, pendant, corner and in-ceiling mounts.

Hanwha Techwin America WiseNet1 DSP chipset gets the best from megapixel cameras
Hanwha Techwin America WiseNet1 DSP chipset gets the best from megapixel cameras

The H.264, MPEG4, MJPEG and JPEG compression methods incorporated into the WiseNet1 DSP provide users with the ability to simultaneously transmit images to multiple locations at various frame  rates and at different resolutions including 1.3megapixel (1280 x 1024), 16:9 HD (1280 x 720), QVGA (320 x 240), SVGA (800x 600) and VGA (640 x 480). With such a wide range of compression methods and resolutions to choose from, a number of different users, if authorised, will be able to simultaneously monitor live images at one location, record video evidence at another or view live and recorded images on a Smartphone. At the same time JPEG images of an incident can be attached to an alarm email notification with the additional facility of storing pre and post-alarm images on a camera's internal SD memory card. Samsung has announced that during the Summer of 2010 it intends to introduce a number of ONVIF compliant cameras and domes incorporating the WiseNet1 DSP chipset and a 1/3" Progressive Scan Mega CMOS. Progressive Scan prevents motion artefacts spoiling the quality of video of fast moving objects which can occur with standard CCTV cameras using the traditional ‘interlacing' method of processing   video frames. The new WiseNet1 DSP equipped cameras and domes will also incorporate a wide range of practical time and cost saving features including PoE (Power over Ethernet) and BNC as well as Ethernet outputs, so that video can be transmitted via coaxial cabling as well as over a network. Full duplex bi-directional audio provides the option of interactive communication between a camera's location and a control room. One of the most impressive features of the WiseNet1 DSP is its Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) capability which includes appear/disappear, optical tripwire and enter/exit direction detection. It also has a scene change tampering function which creates an alert if, for example, paint is sprayed on a camera lens or there is an unauthorized manual change of a camera angle. All the new cameras and domes will have true day/night functionality with an IR cut filter and will also incorporate Samsung Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII) technology. Other key features include Highlight Compensation (HLC) technology which identifies and neutralises excessively bright areas in an image, enabling an operator to view previously hidden details and Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR) which automatically lightens the dark areas within a scene whilst maintaining the brighter areas at the same level. This ensures that the dark areas become more visible, allowing the operator to ‘view' objects in the shadows.

Hanwha Techwin America introduces 4CIF WDR network camera range
Hanwha Techwin America introduces 4CIF WDR network camera range

Samsung’s new 4CIF WDR network camera range is designed to provide a competitively priced alternative option to megapixel cameras for video surveillance projects where very high quality images are required. Schools, hospitals, offices, factories, warehouses and  retail stores are just a few of the environments that  could benefit from the new 4CIF range which comprises the SNB-3002 boxed camera, the SND-3082 dome, the SND-3082F flush mounted dome and the SNV-3082 vandal resistant dome. “Customers’ expectations nowadays are very high in terms of the quality of the images they can expect to see captured by security cameras,” said Peter Ainsworth, Senior Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd.  “For the vast majority of applications it would seem unnecessary however to incur the cost of installing megapixel cameras when cameras such as those in our new 4CIF camera range, if positioned correctly,  are more than capable of generating evidence grade images. Apart from the capital cost savings which could be significant on large projects where a high number of cameras are required, 4CIF cameras are also far more bandwidth friendly than megapixel when images need to be viewed over a network.” The 4CIF camera range features Power over Ethernet which can reduce installation costs by providing both power and video/audio transmissions via a single Ethernet cable. It also offers multiple streaming, with a choice of MJPEG, MPEG-4 and H.264 compression methods, providing the option to simultaneously transmit images to multiple locations at various frame rates up to 25 frames per second, and at different resolutions. This allows different authorised users to monitor live images at one location, whilst recording video evidence at another. At the same time images can be saved onto an on-board SD memory card and email notifications of any incidents sent to a smartphone. The new models in the 4CIF network camera range incorporate Samsung’s A1 DSP chipset and are able to capitalise on Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology, which makes them ideal for locations where there may be strong contrasting lighting conditions. They also feature Progressive Scan which optimises high quality video capture of moving objects, making it possible, for example, to read car number plates without a motion blur effect.  All four models have a true Day/Night function with infra-cut filter and a CCD image sensor which equips them to capture high quality colour images when lighting is as low as 0.001 Lux with Sens-up and monochrome images at 0.0001 LUX with Sens-up. As well as standard motion detection, the Samsung’s 4CIF cameras have a scene change tampering feature which creates an alert if, for example, paint is sprayed on a camera lens or there is unauthorised movement of a camera away from its usual field of view. A bi-directional audio function offers effective two-way communication. 12 individual polygonal Privacy Zones ensure that windows, for example, in residential properties cannot be viewed, whilst Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS) can negate the effects of the camera shaking due to high winds or building vibration. As is the case with all Samsung professional security products, the 4CIF WDR network camera range is supplied with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
