Hemispheric technology is not a new idea. Through the use of a fish-eye lens, video surveillance can take a panoramic 180-degree view of a scene to provide maximum coverage from a single vantage point.  However, in the past, the images from hemispheric cameras would need to be flattened through processing in the control room to make the view more acceptable for operators. Yet the new i26 highlights a major innovation from MOBOTIX by using built-in image distortion correction within the camera.  The end result is better image quality, faster frame rate and lower network traffic through the decentralised solution. The 6MP indoor camera is fitted with either a day or night-time lens and includes on-board and direct to NAS event recording, MxActivitySensor to reduce false alarms and MxAnalytics for heat map and people counting.  Available with optional two-way audio and housed within a discreet dome fixture using just 4W of power – the i26 can protect a large area from an exceedingly small footprint.
