Arecont Vision Megapixel MegaVideo IP Cameras Enhances License Plate Recognition at Logistics Center in Europe
The Rungis logistic centre near Paris is the oldest and largest facility managed by the freight logistic platforms specialist Sogaris. With roadway access to the centre via two entry lanes and two exit lanes, even the slightest access problem can lead to long lines that can easily spill over onto the nearby motorway. To improve access speed, convenience and security at the centre, Sogaris is using a custom developed automatic license plate reading system designed around Arecont Vision’s Megapixel MegaVideo DayNight cameras. The cameras offer stunning clarity, even in low light or extreme backlight conditions, and allow precise accuracy and higher resolution in capturing images of the license plates. For the private parking region, cameras are installed in terminals where they read and register the vehicles’ front plates. Rear plates are also read to avoid vehicles piggy-backing on the front vehicle. On exiting, a data consistency check is performed for added security. The cameras are also ideal for the application because they feature MJPEC compression, which works well in applications where the recording can be set to a lower frame-rate.
