D-Fend Solutions, the pioneer in radio frequency (RF), cyber-based, non-kinetic, non-jamming, counter-drone takeover technology, announced the expansion of its U.S. team. In response to the rapid growth in demand for the organisation’s solutions, these additions to the company will support the continued advancement of its U.S. presence and operations from its Mclean, Virginia office. The company has appointed Gordon Kesting as Vice President, U.S. Sales and Business Development, and Glenn McArthur as Business Development Manager. With their expertise and experience, D-Fend Solutions is poised to continue developing and leading in multiple C-UAS market sectors through its U.S. operations, sales, partnerships, and implementations. Prior roles of Kesting Kesting has previously held positions at pioneering defence companies including prime contractors Gordon Kesting joins the team as Vice President, U.S. Sales and Business Development, and he is responsible for the region’s sales, capture management, customer engagement, and business development. Kesting has previously held positions at pioneering defence companies including prime contractors and mid-tier firms such as Hughes Aircraft Company/Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, and DRS Technologies. In his most recent role at Elbit Systems of America, Gordon led the company's growth into the homeland security and international foreign military markets. Prior roles of McArthur Glenn McArthur joins the team as Business Development Manager, responsible for driving business growth and strategic partnerships in homeland security and other public safety sectors. Prior to joining D-Fend Solutions, Glenn had an extensive career with the U.S. Border Patrol, spanning twenty-five years. During this time, McArthur held multiple leadership positions, most recently focused on C-UAS intelligence and operations within the agency.
Under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt’s Arab Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Egypt is set to host the 3rd edition of Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX), taking place from 4 to 7 December 2023, at Egypt International Exhibition Centre. The exhibition will showcase the latest military technology, equipment, and systems across land, sea, and air through more than 400 exhibitors from 46 countries. EDEX 2023 will include 22 country pavilions from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United States of America. Defence and security event The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for visitors to witness the latest technology Organised by Arabian Word Events (AWE), the pioneering organiser of award-winning international events, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Military Production, and the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation, EDEX is the only defence and security event that covers Africa and the Middle East and the largest in Africa. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for visitors to witness the latest technology, equipment, defence systems, and military products in addition to the Egyptian Pavilion where attendees can view the cutting-edge present and future capabilities of the Ministry of Military Production. High-level military delegations from more than 100 countries have been invited, and 35,000 visitors are expected to attend the exhibition over four days. EDEX EDEX is set to feature an impressive lineup of renowned companies covering all aspects of defence and security, such as land vehicles, air defence, coastal defence, shipbuilders, maintenance and repair, cyber security, missile systems, unmanned and autonomous systems, parachuting and airdrop, satellite communication, search and rescue, surveillance systems, tactical equipment, training and simulation equipment, and much more. Boom Supersonic, the company building the world’s fastest airliner, optimised for speed, safety and sustainability, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow an agreement with Collins Aerospace on the Overture programme. Carrying 65–80 passengers at twice the speed of today’s airliners and running on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), Overture will fly Mach 1.7 over water with a range of 4,250 nautical miles. The new agreement Under the new agreement between the two companies, Collins will assist Boom in the evaluation and development of major aircraft systems and components for Overture. Engineers at Collins and Boom will perform aerodynamic analysis to evaluate Overture’s Ice Protection System, the system that prevents the formation of ice on the aircraft during flight. Boom will also work with Collins to assess Air Data System architectures that meet Overture’s field performance and range requirements. Leverages the deep expertise This agreement leverages the deep expertise and scale of Collins as Boom ramps up for Overture production “We are thrilled to be expanding our collaboration with Collins to develop key components for Overture,” said Kathy Savitt, Boom’s President. “This agreement leverages the deep expertise and scale of Collins as we ramp up for Overture production and together we will work toward an aircraft that is fast, safe and sustainable.” Successful collaboration The expanded joint effort with Collins builds upon several years of successful collaboration aimed at improving propulsion system performance and minimising aircraft noise on Overture. Collins and Boom have worked together to develop inlet, nozzle and exhaust system technologies to facilitate the net-zero carbon operation of Overture. Overture’s refined design Boom unveiled Overture’s refined design, combining a number of engineering innovations in aerodynamics, noise reduction and performance at the Farnborough International Airshow. Boom also announced that it would collaborate with Northrop Grumman to offer a special mission variant of Overture to government and military customers. The first Overture aircraft is on track to roll out in 2025, fly in 2026 and carry its first passengers by 2029.
