Allegion plc, security products, and solutions provider, has, through one of its subsidiaries, signed a definitive agreement to acquire assets of plano. group (plano), a software-as-a-service (SaaS) workforce management solution. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023, subject to customary closing conditions. Based in Germany, plano has been a long-time service provider and development partner for Allegion’s European workforce management brand, Interflex, and its SP-EXPERT software platform. Following the close of the acquisition, plano will continue to serve advanced workforce management (AWFM) customers as part of the Interflex portfolio. Accelerating seamless access Interflex General Manager Bernhard Sommer said this acquisition will accelerate seamless access, driving expansion of Interflex and its AWFM business with new capabilities in SaaS models and recurring revenue solutions. Interflex General Manager Bernhard Sommer said this acquisition will accelerate seamless access “This strategic acquisition represents a significant expansion of our position as a market leader in workforce management while underscoring our commitment to growth and meeting customer needs through investment in software solutions,” Sommer said. “It will add mobile-first software engineering talent to our business, while deepening our presence in attractive end-user markets like healthcare, banking and insurance, call centres, retail, and municipal government services. At the same time, it will fuel expansion for the plano software platform and offer a broader suite of services to both plano and Interflex customers.” Software business strategy The founder of the plano business, Robert Schüler, will join Interflex, helping ensure a smooth integration and driving progress of the AWFM software business strategy. “This acquisition will be a natural evolution for plano, providing important capital, scale, and demand generation resources,” Schüler said. “Our longstanding relationship with Interflex will support an efficient transition that benefits our customers and builds on our mutual reputations of both quality and excellence.” The agreement to acquire plano follows another recent investment in Interflex’s AWFM business – Allegion’s 2021 acquisition of assets of Astrum Benelux B.V. (Belgium) and WorkforceIT B.V. (the Netherlands).
There are many matters that must be taken into account when organising a casino. A top priority is the security of the entire workforce and clientele. An access control system that is reliable and easy to operate provides the basis for that. Casino Baden-Baden is open 358 days a year. In addition to various different pay scale groups and work-time models, a variety of bonuses need to be assigned. Pay may therefore be partly exempt of tax or liable to tax, with holiday bonuses and weekend pay. Recording staff work timings Intensive workshops and consultations were conducted to establish the specific requirements of the casino, so that the best possible solution could be developed. The main focus was on recording work times and transmitting that data to the casino's own specially developed shift schedule program. Given the various different work time models and wage types in numerous variants, complex manual procedures must be automated in future. IF-4735, IF-810, and IF-800 access control terminals Employees can use their passes for cashless payment in the cafeteria and at the vending machines In 1991, a solution for physical access control and time recording was implemented in the form of the IF-5020 software. Since 1998, the IF-6020 software solution has been in use. The hardware terminals IF-4735, IF-810, and IF-800 ensure smooth recording of work times and grant authorised employees access to the various separate areas. Also, the employees can use their passes for cashless payment in the cafeteria and at the vending machines. The system solution from Interflex, with its hardware and software components, now brings employees and administrators substantial time savings and a great deal of convenience. Central access control system All access permissions and work times are now recorded and controlled in one central system, eliminating the disruption of transferring from one system to another, such as to the program for pay and shift planning. This has brought considerable improvement in transparency and in the freshness of data, and paper has been completely banished from work time control.
Hult International Business School provides a unique and innovative educational programme based on real market insight to their students all over the globe. Looking for a more efficient class attendance control system on their campuses, Hult took notice of TBS’s touchless, wireless connectable and hygienic 3D technology. TBS’s 3D touchless technology The initial project was originated in Dubai under the guidance of Ahmed El Banna, who said: “The main reason for Hult to select TBS was the reliability of the technology and the team behind it. Among many companies tested, TBS’s 3D technology has successfully proven to be reliable in identifying our most difficult cases. We were applying a system that wasn’t familiar to many companies and that is where TBS’s smart team and personalised customer service around the clock and around the globe came in handy. We were also keen for a software that is easy to use and preferably on the cloud, which we found with TBS.” School administration and students were impressed by how well the devices integrate into the school’s routine and architecture: “The design of the 3D devices has fit our modern premises on Campus as if to measure, which was also an important selection criteria”, says El Banna. The Hult team developed a wirelessly connected kiosk, placed at the entrance of each classroom, ensuring that all students sign in, even if they arrive late. Installation over 3 continents The installation on the Dubai campus served as a persuasive example to Hult’s other locations, spanning over 3 continents. Expansions to their London, Boston and San Francisco school sites were completed maintaining and synchronising the worldwide data in real time. Hult’s new attendance automation system can be extended to any additional location anywhere in the world at any time. This project was realized in collaboration with the Interflex partner NTS for installation in London and global support, Kratos for installation in the US and with the effort of the Hult teams in Dubai, London, and the USA. The solution is scalable and can expand to cover other sites such as the Shanghai campus. The TBS 3D-Terminal is a three-dimensional, contact-free fingerprint sensor, using three integrated cameras for its scanning process. TBS systems is designed in particular for high security and large user groups. It can be used with TBS BioManager software or integrated into any existing security software.
