Event Overview:

GHAC 2014 - Matching the importance of Humanitarian Air Operations with Aviation Safety

Organised on behalf of the World Food Programme (WFP), the 6th GHAC focuses on the importance of humanitarian air operations, aviation safety and the unique difficulties faced in transporting aid personnel and materials to humanitarian disaster & crisis sites that are often barely accessible due to destroyed infrastructure and impassable roads.

The key objective for the series is to enhance aviation safety, increase safety awareness and improve the culture of safety among aviation staff involved in WFP humanitarian missions and supporting mission organisations, such as registered air carriers.

The conference covers the role of civil aviation authorities, the role of independent safety organisations, foreign registered aircraft operations, safety management systems and issues such as aircraft ageing.

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, and its GHAC series has grown to become the only fully UN supported annual global event to convene the aviation innovators, decision-makers and accountable managers who deliver humanitarian air aid operations against pressing aviation safety and operational concerns.

The 6th GHAC also provides a unique and positive environment in which to network with aviation colleagues, learn about new safety related priorities, strategies and initiatives, listen to leadership perspectives, share ideas, best practices and innovations as well as discuss successes and failures in crisis led air aid operations from, by and to some of the world’s leading humanitarian aid & support organisations operating at the extreme end of aid delivery to hostile environments.
