With several companies sharing one building, a common access control system was needed to secure each company’s offices. As well as being easy for everyone to use, it needed to be unobtrusive.
AEOS came highly recommended
Millennium Bridge House in London is home to a variety of companies in industries including finance, insurance and recruitment where the protection of personal data is paramount. When the building’s access control system became outdated, the certified business partner, BLE Security, recommended Nedap’s AEOS.
As 700 employees from different companies would be using the new system, it needed to be unobtrusive while also preventing people accessing another company’s floor. It was also important for the system to provide clear, consistent reporting on its use.
Easy to integrate functionality on AEOS
Bill Rannigan, security manager at Old Mutual, one of the companies based at Millennium Bridge House, likes the usability of the new system. He appreciates that AEOS badge management is very straightforward – particularly important with badges needing to be produced for different companies. Bill believes that the simpler systems are; the fewer mistakes are made. He also likes how easy it is to integrate functionality on AEOS. If they choose to, it would be simple to add CCTV onto their AEOS platform. Plus, they can add new locations quickly too.
Old Mutual has another office in Southampton and employees based there can use their AEOS access cards in both the London and Southampton offices, and vice versa.
“AEOS gave an instant cost benefit because the price for installing a new AEOS platform was less than it would have been to upgrade the building’s old system. We’re really pleased with the usability and like how straightforward everything is with AEOS. And it’s reassuring to know that if we need to make changes to the system in the future we only have to reconfigure the software rather than replacing hardware.” said Bill Rannigan Security Manager Old Mutual Group, based at Millennium Bridge House
A cost-effective option
Another important benefit offered by AEOS is that they won’t have to deal with an outdated system again. Unlike other systems, where functionality is driven by a combination of dedicated hardware and software, an AEOS platform’s functionality is determined purely by software.
Maintenance is easy, which keeps costs down as physical security is outsourced at Millennium Bridge House. And the new AEOS system cost less than it would have done to update the existing system.
AEOS segregates employees from different companies and provides clear reporting on its use.
