QNAP® Systems, Inc. recently confirmed the availability of QDK (QPKG Development Kit) version 2.0.1, and encouraged Turbo NAS users to extend the capabilities by developing software packages with the easy-to-use tool.
QDK is developed by Michael Nordstrom, one of QNAP community's active users. It is used to build QNAP QPKG files and applications for the Turbo NAS. A QPKG file makes it easy for anyone to install and remove packages. It also gives a package maintainer good control on how the package is installed on the Turbo NAS.
The major design goal of QDK is to make it easy for the package maintainer to create simple QPKG files and at the same time also support more advanced packages, said Michael Nordstrom.
QNAP QPKG packages are developed and widely shared in the QNAP community. The ones that have been verified by QNAP are available for download at QNAPs website, said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP. Thanks to Mr. Michael Nordstroms effort, we encourage our users to leverage the newly available QDK version 2.0.1 to create more creative and productive applications for their Turbo NAS.
QDK is distributed under the GPL making it completely open and available for anyone to use.
