Martin Gren has been recognised for his continued service to the security sector when he was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution to the Security Industry Award" at last week’s IFSEC & FIREX Awards 2013.

Gren was bestowed the award by IFSEC, the international fire and security exhibition, who recognised the huge changes his innovations have brought about in the physical security industry.

Together with Carl-Axel Alm, Gren, 50, invented the world’s first IP camera in 1996 and helped Axis Communications become the global leader in networked video it is today. Since it was founded, Axis has led the worldwide convergence from analogue CCTV to IP video surveillance.

Earlier this year, Gren was also recognised by IFSEC when he was named the most influential person in the global fire and security industries noting his significant influence on the industry.

On accepting the award, Gren said: “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award, especially when we are in such prestigious company. I am so proud to have been at the forefront of IP camera technology and it’s great to see that this innovative technology is driving the convergence away from legacy analogue CCTV and into a bright, new digital future.”

These have included network print servers, IBM connectivity products, ASICs and scan servers, as well as playing an instrumental part in Axis’ state-of-the-art business, in particular its network video camera technology. Gren is also a board member of Tobii Technology AB, H Lunden Holding AB and Askero Sagoboks Förlag AB.

Axis is currently exhibiting at IFSEC in Hall 4, stand E90 at the NEC in Birmingham. IFSEC is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. For more information about Axis Communications visit www.axis.com
