Videx Security, one of the leading suppliers and manufacturers of door entry and access control products in the UK, has now received Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation on a range of door entry and access control products suitable for private, commercial and local authority properties.

Secured by Design is the initiative from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) that aims to reduce crime through effective environmental design. The scheme calls for the installation of security products that meet police approved standards. The principles of Secured by Design have been proven to achieve a reduction of crime risk by up to 75% and significant reductions in anti-social behaviour.

Architects and specifiers can confidently include specific Videx SBD accredited door entry and access control products within their design, knowing that they will help achieve Secured by Design building accreditation and meet new planning requirements.

The Videx door entry and access control products which have been tested to STS202 BR2 Level of Burglary Resistance, and received Secured By Design approval, include the vandal resistant VR120 range of functional audio and video door entry panels, suitable for properties with up to 15 flats and with optional proximity access control for residents' door panels.

The VX2200 digital audio or audio/video door entry panels can cater for up to 1000 flats with proximity access control. The door entry panels incorporate a telephone style keypad and both audible/visual guidance is given throughout the progress of a call by way of a back lit LCD display and spoken messages. The Videx FS/DK Stainless Steel Drop Key Fireman Switch is designed to allow access to buildings in an emergency.

Videx Security can offer assistance and advice to anyone wishing to ensure they meet the latest Secured by Design requirements for private residential, social housing, sheltered accommodation or education facilities for both new build or regeneration schemes.
