Comelit-PAC, in collaboration with Kings Group SW, has successfully implemented a custom video door entry system at Bridgwater Arts Centre, a Grade I listed building known for its cultural and architectural heritage.
Located centrally in Bridgwater and now managed by the Town Council, the Arts Centre's current structure dates back to 1723, with its operations as a theatre for performance, music, and film commencing in 1946.
Enhancing security with modern video entry
As part of a broader refurbishment plan, Kings Group SW worked with the Arts Centre to modernise its door entry system, introducing a modular video design.
Scott Mason, Bridgwater Town Council's Director of Amenities, highlighted the importance of preserving the building's historical integrity during this process. Mason stated, “The Grade I listing of Bridgwater Arts Centre means that any changes, however minor, must be carefully planned to protect the building’s historic character.” The installation aimed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings while improving video surveillance and access control.

Kings Group SW specified Comelit-PAC's Ultra Door Entry system, a high-definition video intercom solution enabling staff to monitor entry points through real-time video feeds and secure access management.
Adam Pitman, Security and Life Safety Systems Supervisor at Kings Group SW, explained the approach, “Every aspect of the door entry upgrade had to be approached sensitively. This included routing cables discreetly, installation and ensuring the system met the latest security standards.” The modular system allowed for minimal interference with the centre’s historic fabric while offering a flexible and upgradable security solution.
Custom configuration of the entry system
The selection of the Ultra system by Comelit-PAC was influenced by its versatile modular design, allowing the custom configuration needed at the Arts Centre. Its 2-Wire and ViP door stations support various combinations of audio, video, and button modules in a compact setup, offering adaptability across different access points.
