Degree of innovation
Founded in 1954, the Red Dot Award: Product Design competition appraises the best products of the year from all over the world. Honouring a select group of products out of the thousands entered each year, Red Dot winners are chosen by a panel of independent designers who seeks to find products that significantly stand out for having exceptional design, according to criteria such as degree of innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.
In total, the competition received more than 5,500 entries from 54 countries in the 2017 competition.
