iDter Technology helps auto dealers fight soaring vehicle theft rates

Auto dealers across the country facing the highest vehicle theft rates in history are turning to technology to stop these escalating attacks before losses are incurred. Auto theft Auto theft is rising and nationwide surpassed one million stolen vehicles for the first time since 2008, according to statistics released by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) in March 2023. Parts were also pinpointed for black market resale: catalytic converter theft ticked up 1,200% over the last three years. CAN injection attacks Thieves are becoming increasingly sophisticated and expanding their threat vectors. Currently, they’re stealing cars through Controller Area Network (CAN) injection attacks, which inject code into headlights and target wiring for the auto’s electronic control units. AI and 4K technology iDter uses AI and 4K ultra-high resolution camera technology embedded in Niō Guardian nodes Liberty Buick-GMC in Matthews, N.C., is taking active steps to protect open-air assets with iDter commercial security technology from KEYper Systems, which in partnership are using AI technology to deter unwanted intrusion on their property.   iDter uses AI and 4K ultra-high resolution camera technology embedded in Niō Guardian nodes located around the property to detect intrusion and take immediate and programmable deterrence actions. Immediate detection and deterrence Scott McCorkle, Dealership Owner of Liberty Buick-GMC has sixteen Niō Guardians installed around the outside of the dealership on buildings and light poles, along with a Niō Guardian to protect the KEYper key management solution inside the building. McCorkle said in one incident shortly after installation unauthorised activity on the property was immediately confronted by the system and the person moved off the property, preventing possible theft or damage. “The combination of immediate detection and deterrence with live video monitoring provides a strong sense of security,” he said. MX Electronic Key Management System KEYper partnered with iDter in 2022 in offering customers the MX Electronic Key Management System its total intrusion deterrence and monitoring solution featuring Niō Guardians. The MX Key System provides key and asset management that leverages analytics, security, and asset control. Visibility Knowing what is occurring on the property has great value to me" Visibility is important to McCorkle, who stays apprised of notifications of activity at his dealership and can access video footage remotely to see what is happening at night and on weekends. “Knowing what is occurring on the property has great value to me,” McCorkle said. Intrusion detection Niō Guardians are positioned around the protected premises to detect intrusion with a powerful high-resolution camera with a wide-angle lens, multiple motion detectors, quad-core computer intelligence, omnidirectional speakers, a microphone, and powerful LED lights for illumination and red/blue strobing.  When a late-night intruder is detected, Niō activates an array of programmable deterrence measures, including instantaneous illumination of 10,000 lumens of multi-directional LED floodlights, blinding strobes of red and blue LEDs, piercing sirens, situation-appropriate voice-down warning messages, and intimidating sound effects.  Real-time monitoring During the early evening hours, Niō has welcoming messages explaining the dealership is closed, “Feel free to browse our inventory, we use lights and cameras for your safety and ours.” Events are monitored in real-time to ensure deterrence actions were successful, and if not, a video-verified alarm is sent to a UL Listed, Five-Diamond Certified central station for dispatch of authorities through 911 operators.

KEYper Systems and iDter exhibit AI technology that protects keys, assets and outdoor property from vandalism and theft at NADA 2023

KEYper Systems, an ASSA ABLOY company and a global provider of innovative key and asset control management solutions, together with iDter, an award-winning developer and manufacturer of an artificial intelligence (AI) surveillance system that puts an end to loitering and property crime, will showcase their joint commercial security solution at NADA 2023 event. KEYper Systems and iDter will be at Booth 233 during NADA 2023, the auto industry event of the year, which is taking place from January 26 to January 29, 2022, in Dallas, Texas, United States of America (USA). KEYper Systems and iDter strategic partnership iDter uses AI embedded in Niō Guardian nodes located around a property to detect intrusion The companies announced a strategic partnership earlier this year that has KEYper Systems deploying iDter solutions at automobile dealerships, in order to provide intelligent intrusion detection and immediate deterrence. iDter uses AI embedded in Niō Guardian nodes located around a property to detect intrusion and take immediate and programmable deterrence actions against the intrusion. KEYper Systems has full access to iDter’s security services KEYper Systems and its network of agents have full access to iDter’s security solution and services, which have been proven to thwart 98% of crime without the delays or high costs associated with human intervention. KEYper has the rights to embed the iDter Niō Guardian system in its line of key and asset management products, and sell the entire iDter commercial security system directly to KEYper clients. KEYper’s Elite series of key management cabinets “Auto dealerships are under attack,” said Steve Baucom, the President of KEYper Systems, adding “Nearly half a million vehicles were stolen the first half of 2022 according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), equating to an estimated US$ 4.5 billion.” He continues, “KEYper’s secure Elite series of key management cabinets only allow authorised users to check out keys and provide detailed records and photos of who is using which key and why. By adding the deterrence capabilities of iDter’s Niō Guardians, we are deploying a robust, integrated solution that stops key and automobile losses, before they occur.” Niō Guardians Niō Guardians are easy-to-install devices equipped with a 4K high-resolution HD camera Niō Guardians are easy-to-install devices equipped with a 4K high-resolution HD camera, motion detectors, microphone and deep learning AI (artificial intelligence) to automatically detect an intrusion. Upon detection, Niō Guardians immediately deter intruders using 10,000 lumens of LED flood light, red/blue LED strobes, and three-way loudspeakers for spoken messages, startling sound effects and ear-piercing alarms. The Niō nodes execute programmable scripts that escalate their response upon detection and have access to a myriad of playlist responses designed to defy predictability. Notifications of intrusion with video recordings are sent to property owners for self-monitoring on mobile phones or to the iDter monitoring personnel for 911 emergency response. AI helps protect and manage keys, dealer assets “We are excited to be partnering with KEYper Systems during NADA to demonstrate how AI can help protect and manage keys and dealer assets,” said Greg Ayres, iDter’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. Greg Ayres adds, “KEYper’s outdoor security system provides deterrence in seconds and is highly effective perimeter protection that’s more cost effective than monitored cameras or security guards.”
