Gunnebo Safe Storage has joined SteelZero, marking a significant development in its sustainability efforts and underscoring the company's commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its supply chain. SteelZero is a global initiative led by the Climate Group, aimed at uniting companies committed to expediting the shift towards a net-zero steel industry. Members of SteelZero pledge to utilise 50% low-emission steel by 2030, and to achieve the use of 100% net-zero steel by 2050. This partnership involves working with peers to influence and develop sustainable industry practices.

Steel plays a crucial role in Gunnebo Safe Storage's offerings, which include safes, vaults, strongrooms, and various secure storage solutions, contributing to an average of 40% of the company's total carbon footprint. Myriam Bevillon, Head of Research and Development, Quality and Sustainability at Gunnebo Safe Storage, stated, “Steel underpins the security and resilience of our products, but it also carries a high environmental cost. By joining SteelZero we can take practical steps to reduce this impact.”

Joining more than 40 SteelZero members, who collectively demand over 10 million tons of steel each year, Gunnebo Safe Storage aims to foster systemic changes in the steel sector, promoting innovation and the scaling of carbon-reducing technologies.
