In a noteworthy move for the security sector, the newly formed S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group has launched a comprehensive consultation aimed at prioritising key areas for its agenda. This initiative follows its initial meeting with the Security Minister, the Security Industry Authority (SIA), and the Home Office.
The S12 is actively seeking input from a broad spectrum of security professionals, businesses, clients, and stakeholders within the guarding industry. The purpose is to gather diverse perspectives on the most significant challenges and opportunities currently faced by the sector.
Collective Input
The insights collected will be pivotal in deciding which workstreams will be prioritised. This approach ensures that the group’s efforts are directed towards initiatives that promise substantial benefits for the industry and the public at large. The consultation process is open until 3pm on Wednesday, 15th October.
Post-consultation, the S12 Leadership Group will convene on 17th October to evaluate the responses. During this meeting, they will finalise the workstreams and appoint a dedicated S12 member to lead each one. The objectives of these workstreams will be reported to the Security Minister by the S12 Chair on 21st October.
Industry Engagement
Subsequent to this presentation, the newly appointed leads will commence direct engagement with the industry. This step involves forming working groups to advance the objectives of each workstream.
The official announcement of the confirmed workstreams to the industry and stakeholders is scheduled for 24th October.
