| King Willem-Alexander encountered the Boon Edam experience in the form of the Lifeline Speedlane Swing |
The Nurturing House by Next City Living Lab is an exploration of how we can be healthier and happier in our cities. It is a place to look for solutions as to how we should nurture our cities, with clean air, water, energy, and food, so that they in turn nurture our lives. As part of this showcase during the Beijing Design Week 2015, Royal Boon Edam displayed their contribution to answer such questions.
Debut during 2015 Beijing Design Week
Situated in the bustling, historic Dashilar hutong district, from 23rd September to 31st October 2015, The Nurturing House became the home for some of the brightest ideas for a better future in China. The Nurturing House by Next City Living Lab marks the fifth consecutive year of The Netherlands’ participation in Beijing Design Week. Working closely with the China Building Center, this year’s public program focused on the theme of “Doing More with Less, Together for a Sustainable Urban Future.”
Royal Boon Edam, the world's leading entry expert and provider of sustainable, secure entry services exhibited their contribution, with a focus on energy-saving revolving doors and securing the built environment, to create a better future together:

Traditional buildings and building methods have a large carbon footprint and a major impact on the environment. But this position also gives us the responsibility to take our sustainability efforts further. Wherever possible we use recycled or recyclable materials to manufacture our entry solutions. Any waste materials are collected and recycled or disposed of by the most environmentally friendly method available.”
The Royal visit
As part of the state visit to China, and to maintain the momentum of the open and pragmatic partnership between the Netherlands and China, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the Nurturing House. During this visit they got to see over 20 exhibits and meet with each of the companies involved, including Boon Edam. Additionally, King Willem-Alexander encountered the Boon Edam experience in the form of the Lifeline Speedlane Swing, the newest innovation by Boon Edam and the most intelligent speed gate on the market today. “Trimmed in orange, the Speedlane Swing definitely gave them the Royal experience they deserve,” said Michelle Wortel.
