OneWeb has announced the release of its latest innovation, the OW1 user terminal, aimed at delivering high-speed satellite broadband globally. This development, in collaboration with Intellian Technologies, Inc., and Collins Aerospace, is poised to provide robust Internet connectivity to businesses, governments, and underserved communities, especially in remote areas.
Introducing OneWeb's Affordable Satellite Broadband
The OW1 user terminal is part of OneWeb's mission to democratise access to satellite broadband. Designed for easy installation, the terminal features a compact, flat-panel antenna, measuring 50x43x10 cm and weighing approximately 10 kg. This briefcase-sized device requires only basic skills for mounting and wiring, making it accessible for diverse applications.

Seamless Integration and Connectivity
The new user terminal integrates a flat-panel antenna with a OneWeb satellite modem in a weather-protected outdoor unit. Designed for flexibility, it can be mounted using an optional stabilised J-mount. Connectivity to end-user devices such as laptops or routers is facilitated through a single power and data cable linking the antenna to an indoor unit.
This launch comes on the heels of OneWeb's 'Five to 50' initiative, which has successfully launched the necessary satellites to enable services in regions including Canada, the UK, and Northern Europe. The company is on course to complete its satellite network by 2022.

The new device follows the successful completion of OneWeb’s ‘Five to 50’ launch programme that has delivered the satellites required to bring OneWeb services to Canada, the UK and Northern Europe later this year. OneWeb is on track to deploy its full fleet of satellites by 2022.
